Resident 2016 - 2018

8/31/2018

Having lived there for 2 years, long story short if you wanna your security deposit back don't live there! If you wanna the office people to work with you don't live there! They always have bad management team, everything is controlled by the invisible company there is nothing they can do. Frequently changing the management team seems to be their way to get around their problems. One star goes to the maintenance guys they actually get things done. Below is the long story. When I first moved in?the apartment is in a very bad condition nothing like the model room. The windows were broken, the floors were cracked, the cabinets were gross, the countertop were cracked, the paintings were all over the ground. When I open the fridge the strong smell almost killed me. Spent almost one week to dedicate on the cleaning after moving in. But have to live with the gross cabinets and cracked floor and countertop for two years with premium price. One year later I referred my friend as he didn't have a car and had to live nearby and Postoak promised 200 referer fee. I brought myself into endless trouble. I went to the office to sign different refer form three times because they either lost my form or changed their workflow or changed their management team completely. Then for the whole year I had to constantly ask when can I got my referer fee, they all knew my situation but no money is back. Finally I can move out the manager agreed I can deduct my referer fee from the last rent check. I was satisfied with the solution. One month after moving out got a check which deducted $250 without explaination. Had to drove to the office and ask, they told me I owed $200 for the last rent and $50 for the late fee penalty. It's ridiculous! I explained the whole thing everyone understood, they will work on it. After 3 months I drove/called/mailed like 20 times still haven't got my money! The moving out proce was not pleasant either. They sent a scary list and required professional carpet cleaning receipt which were not in the lease agreement at all. If you are not careful they can charge you a lot! Even though I didn't get a good apartment I tried my best to make it nice and clean when I leave. The management is bad but I hope the next tenant can start from a better position if he/she chose this place unfortunately. There is one time they were very efficient though. They post a scary notice on my door in the morning of 8th day my last month when they thought I owed their money. It made me laugh so hard they cared about their money so much but don't care about the tenants' at all. I don't know if my case is special but are they aware it's illegal to keep tenants security deposit forever?
