I have never bothered to review anything online before, but I don't think I've ever felt quite the need to warn anyone looking for reviews of a particular item/apartment. Let me start by saying that Redwood Falls is unequivocally the most disgusting building I have encountered. The entire building smells like rot. The antiquated ventilation systems smell like a cross between stale cigarette smoke and rot. The walls are paper thin, so everything your neighbors do is audible. My neighbors verbally assaulted one another constantly, so that's what I lived with. The apartments themselves are filthy-- the floor is disgusting, when I moved in there were Cheerios all over the kitchen floor. The fixtures are moldy, there are consistently drainage problems that are never fixed. Water from God knows where was constantly backed up in my sink or shower, and it took days for maintenance to "get around to it." Additionally, I didn't have a mailbox key for the first 6-8 weeks I lived there-- I had to constantly beg the post office to pull my mail from my mailbox because Henneberry "lost" the original key and it took a while for maintenance to "get around to it." The apartments are completely unsafe. I can't count the times the Stillwater police department shows up for one reason or another. I called them myself more than a few times because of domestic disturbances in the complex. The walls inside are covered with graffiti and the inside of the complex is covered in trash and dimly lit. Heating the apartment is a problem because the air smells of smoke so strongly that I woke up coughing nearly every night I slept there with the heat on. Quite a few of the tenants didn't seem to have jobs or any other reason to ever leave their apartments, so loud music blares 24/7. I initially tried to break my lease fully aware of the cost I'd have to pay for breaking the lease-- unfortunately, Henneberry claimed they'd have to exact some "damages" that would likely exceed the amount paid down on the security deposit and the amount that remained in the lease contract-- to the tune of several thousand dollars more than the lease was actually worth. This is essentially blackmail, and they're banking on the fact that you (1) don't know your rights as a tenant or (2) don't have the cash to fight their non-sense in court. I know it's tempting to live in such a place, especially for students who think it won't be that bad and that it's a cheap alternative to some of the more convenient but overpriced places in Stillwater. But it really isn't. The place is absolutely miserable-- it's miserable to live in such disgusting conditions now matter how much money you may be saving. You will not have a peaceful night of sleep for the duration of your lease.
