Resident 2014 - 2016

I lived in the Conifer Place Apartments for a little over two years. The facility was always clean and the neighbors friendly. The highlight of Conifer Place was the staff though. Our maintenance requests were always responded to immediately and with skill. The manager, -----, is one of the most professional, great property managers I've ever had the pleasure to meet. When we first moved in he promised he was honest about the security deposit, and he really came through. He called the morning of the first business day after we moved out to let us know we'd receive our full deposit back. Sure enough, the full deposit came in the mail not long after. We honestly stayed in Corvallis longer than intended because we were so reluctant to leave Conifer Place.

The manager is very helpful and has addressed any maintenance concerns or other questions quickly. They are one of the few places in town that offers a full size washer and dryer in the apartment, which is usually hard to find for a one bedroom.

We love it here. Previous reviews mention the manager Steve and how great he is, and we confirm that. Coming from a large private home, we were concerned about noise, safety and up keep. All of those issues are non concerns. The neighbors are friendly and have all gone through extensive background and credit checks. We live it here!

I currently live at Conifer Place Apartments and have since 2012. I absolutely love it. The new manager, Steve, is great! The apartments are kept up and maintenance is very attentive. Never once have had an issue with crime. I had a domestic violence issue and the staff was SO helpful and made me feel like my needs were valid and they changed my locks very promptly and even checked the entire apartment to make sure no one was in it before doing so. Never charged me for the locks or the new keys. This was such a positive experience for me that I would 100% recommend this apartment complex.

My lease was up 6 months ago and I was not going to renew. However a new manager appeared on the scene so I gave it another chance. What a difference 6 months have made. The place has been cleaned up 500%, the outside lights are all working, maintenance is usually the same day and done right. The entire staff is so friendly and helpful. The manager is awesome and always helpful, even to the point of helping me carrying a UPS package to my apartment as it was too heavy for me. I never hear noise from my neighbors anymore and as a single woman I feel extremely safe here. A great manager makes a big difference. I would now recommend Conifer Place to anyone looking for a great rental.

Let me start off by saying, this is an Okay place as a student. Its not the best, nor is it the worst. If I were to suggest others to live here, I defiantly would not recommend it. Ill start off with a pros and cons of living here. Pros: Community pool, recreation room, bus stops. W/S/G included in rent, location to stores fairly close, 2 full baths, washer and dryers in each unit, big tv room to reserve for free, extra storage, basketball/tennis court, 1 reserved parking with cover, moderate fixtures and style of the apartment, somewhat spacious living. Cons: Apartments are falling apart, window sills molding all throughout the apartment on the inside from condensation (VERY UN-HEALTHY), pantry door has carpet underneath - therefor making it hard to close and to easily break, INSULATION IS HORRIBLE - can hear every foot step from upstairs and outside - so if your a light sleeper it will not work for you, not to mention other tenants are inconsiderate of others and choose to workout above, there is no such thing as a noise complaint with the office either, no pets allowed, downstairs tenants smoke and you can smell it from above (even… See More>

Worst place to live! Paper thin walls. You can here almost everything The neighbors are doing. Everything is breaking because they are just Crappy apartments and when I tell the manager to fix it she complains and Tells me to stop breaking stuff! It all breaks on its own! And the maintenance Guy is the creepiest guy ever! He will just sit in the workout room on a machine An just watch you. Does the same thing at the pool. Very innappropriate when When he comes in the apartment. Makes me feel so uncomfortable. The parking is absolutely terrible. They have the spots so close together sometimes it just impossible to even fit my car in the spot and actually be able to get out of the car. Overall a really terrible place to live

The apartments are reasonably good. I had lived here for around 3 years. The worst part in these apartments is dealing with the manager. There are 2 managers here (Main manager and the assistant manager). The assistant manager usually works on saturdays too. She is very nice and considerate. The main manager is always with a crooked face and cocky. She is not good with tenants at all. Beware of her. If you have any request to make, do it on saturday coz assistanant manager is helfull. Manintance staff is good and friendly. Thought the law says not to smoke in the area, maintanace staff themselves smoke, so dont expect a smoke free zone. Coming to cleanliness, its not that great, there is bird ---- all around and below the stairs. Lighting the stairway will be out in some areas. Rent is always going up. Hint: There are some new apartments being built in the same area :)

This would be a "4" star but the assistant manager bring this place down to a "1"

The place is nice. But the assistant is the worst person ever!! Yells at her kids 24/7. They run around in diapers that haven't been changed in forever. Never keeps the outside clean. Always has crap outside. Never picks up after her kids. And lets not get into the random people that live with her. Yep! Get ready to deal with pot smokers around your home at random times. The apartments are clean and spacious. The manager is on top of maintenance.

Looks new, but everything inside is cheap, including the management!

Stay duration: 6 months (Oct-2011 to March-2012) Rent: 700$ Security deposit: 450$ Deposit returned: 90$ Experience: I stayed here with my friend and it is the most pathetic experience for me in Corvallis. I have stayed in two other places before. Every single part in the building is made of the lowest grade material. Worst part is they cheated me of my security deposit. I, infact had the apartment manager inspect my place few days before i moved out and she said only minor things like cleaning the window, cleaning the dryer filter etc. I cleaned the apartment for two days and the apt was atleast 90% of how she rented me. And finally when I got the check back, I was shocked that she returned only 90$. Most of it was for cleaning charges and a major part was for carpet repair. Now, one night in the second month of our stay, there was a massive break in the water line to the closet tank and water was spraying all over the bathroom. Since we were sleeping, we noticed it little late and by then the water had seeped into the bedroom carpet and half of the bedroom was soaked in water. They… See More>

                      1. The quality of apartment is very poor. 2. if neighbour swithched on heater....your apartment will get heated. Ih house boiler is always scary which is safety threat to inmates.... 3, Maintnance manger doesn't know how to behave with tenants..... 4. All the deposit gets ttally deducted even if clean the apartment just like new. I had totally cleaning but still deducted all my money. They had done walk through and expressed their satisfaction but still deducted all my deposit. Overall staying in this apartment is totally unsatisfactory.

                        My Security Deposit Got STOLEN.

They stole 315 dollars out of my security deposit for cleaning fees. Apparently, it took them 9 hours to clean my apartment. This is ridiculous because my mom and I had cleaned the whole apartment for two whole days, and we made sure we cleaned everywhere. The apartment employees are very mean and irresponsible. They only see you as money and they have mischarged me for "unpaid rent". Apparently I left the apartment one day late I didn't. The apartment itself is very noisy, the cars go by at night which disrupts sleeping. Don't ever go there unless you want to deal with the tyranny of employees and noise.

I stayed in this complex for about 3 years. This to me was the best apartment I have rented while attending OSU. To me it's a place where you can call it your home. It's a very safe area, plenty of parking and nice recreation (swimming pool, workout room and basketball court). The staff is great, always friendly to me when I saw them pass by. When I moved out the manager had 3-4 walk throughs with me so that I would know what to clean before I gave up my keys. Overall I would give this place a 10/10 hands down. I have not seen a complex better maintained than conifer apartments

spent 6 months here so far

We've lived here for about 6 months and it's been great. We've had to call for maintenance just three times and they were quick about each one. The manager is easy to talk to and I feel comfortable asking her about anything we need. They make you sign a TON of forms and put every maintenance request in writing, but that's to be expected for a good apartment, I'd be concerned if they didn't. The pool opened for the summer a few weeks ago and it's beautiful, they really keep it clean and looking nice. The fitness room is nice, though sometimes it's hard to find pins for the weight machines. The machines aren't new but they work and are clean. The grounds are also always clean and I see landscaping people come through at least once a week. At first I was worried about having outdoor plants in pots by our door but they've never disturbed them. We do occasionally hear our upstairs neighbor playing guitar but we haven't had to complain about it yet, otherwise it's pretty quiet. Parking isn't much of a problem, there is one space for each apartment and lots of unmarked parking. Though we haven't moved… See More>

                              You Decide

I lived there for a year and while they were very good about working with me on some things, I also go ripped off when I moved out. They took the whole deposit, plus charged me, saying they had to clean things that I had already cleaned (actually scrubbed because I wanted the deposit back). It's great grounds, great price, close to campus without being too close, but rip off at the end. And if you have more than one car for your apartment, good luck finding parking after 6pm. You only get one assigned spot per apt, and I usually had to park on the other side of the complex. I also had a spot on my balconey that was there before I moved in that they asked me to put in a maintenance request to get fixed. I put in the request, talked to them multiple times about it, and it never got fixed.

                                Wonderful place to call home!

I have enjoyed every minute of my life at Conifer Place. The apartments are great and the staff is fantastic! This comlex is great for the price in town. Washer and dryer in every unit, safe location, awesome staff. After reading the extremely negative reviews I believe that those people are just out of touch with reality. I have had two maintainance issues: a dripping sink and a bad disposal. Both were replaced with brand new fixtures the SAME DAY. And the claims of being charged upon moving out were probably justified. I am sure they did spend 4 hours cleaning up after you. If your mom spent two hours scrubbing the bathroom floor that says you never cleaned when you lived there. So please, if you are considering moving here, don't hesitate to move in. Kayah and her staff will treat you with respect; you won't regret living here!

It is amazing that the apartment manager makes her employees go online and write good reviews. The manager is one of the most incompetent person I have ever dealt with. She is very unprofessional. When someone calls to get information about the apartment, they act like they don t need you to rent there as they are always so occupied and they don t have problem getting residents. They act like they take care of their tenants, but that is not true. They act like we only have specials for the current residents, but when I went to sign up for the special, they said I wasn t qualified. Why would you not have specials for the people who want to rent your apartments? They should be thankful that people are even considering them. They are a bunch of phonies. I don t know why they act so snobby. They wouldn t even give us the management company information. I wonder where the money then goes (Food and drinks)? Glad to see a cover on it this winter! work out room would be nice but most machines dont work correctly or are missing pieces. The location is not too far away from OSU but not right on top of the "Campus-Life" (if ya know what I mean) I really needed to finish my degree with a 3.70 and my roomie was in the same spot. NICE FLOOR PLAN on the 2nd & 3rd floor very open. The best part was that the 2 bedrooms dont share walls, there on oppisite ends. Very groovy! Kinda steep on the deposite though. They demanded the place was left as clean as we found it. It was spotless! We dont live spotless, but we were motivated to get our deposite back, and we did. The awsome pool was 1 year old when I moved in, looked the same when I left, Beautifull!! The Maint. people there didnt Creep me out. Personable, polite & quick. The office was understanding when I was a little late... as long as I called ahead :). They have a noise rule there at night thats strictly inforced. Gotta plan ahead though, there always full. I did have to wait for 2-1/2 weeks to move:(.

Sad that people only comment when they're angry. Construction around the complex can be disturbing during the day - but it's making the complex a better place to live. Management has changed in the last couple of years - but the manager has always been able to answer questions and seems to really care about the complex. I feel comfortable telling people to move to Conifer Place because I enjoy living here.

We spent two days cleaning before we moved out and my mom was on her hands and knees cleaning the bathroom floors but they still took our whole security deposit. Sent us notice that it took 4 hours at $35/hour to clean a two bedroom apartment. That apartment had not seen 4 hours of cleaning in 4 years. Every apartment needs carpet cleaning after move out - granted them that but they took our money because we didn't polish the chrome in the bathrooms. SO, if you move in just know that you won't get a dime back when you move out.

Scam Artists, once they get you in a lease, its all about the $$$$

It took us 5 months to get the obnoxious drug abusing teenagers above us kicked out, and then one of them was allowed to live in a different apartment in the same complex! The rent is outrageous for the quality of the buildings. There were so many things wrong upon move in (RED FLAG!!!) we had to attach an itemized sheet (they didn't even check/replace the smoke detector battery!)The disposal didn't work, nor did many lights etc. Then they had the AUDACITY to charge us 500$ for cleaning a year later when we moved out. We shampooed the carpets twice while we lived there because they were so disgusting. Also, they say pets aren't allowed but people were walking their dogs all over the grounds in broad daylight. I have never been treated so rudely by anyone before, nor ever had to make so many complaints about the neighbors. We complained directly to the management company numerous times (who we make the rent check out to) with little success. If you're still naive enough to move here, don't sign a lease. They know they have you and your money and could care less about you and your stay. Wish I… See More>

chose anywhere else...I reccomend Briar Ridge!

Lived here for over a year... The mangagement is not particulary friendly or helpful. The best thing they've ever had going for them is a hard-working maintenance guy..who you'll get to know well if you move here w/ all the appliances that will crap out on you. Went through 2 refrigerators and 2 dishwashers in the time I lived there each causing a slew of inconveniences. They're overpriced for what you get which is a tiny, crappy half-assed excuse for decent living. You'd be happier getting what you pay for at another apartment complex. I lived at Briar Ridge prior and have no compliants! It was very nice there! Also when you decide to get out of conifer good luck not getting charged an exaggerated and unfair amount. Expect no deposit back more to pay. We noticed right after move in that we had a silverfish infestation and were told it was our problem. The management is completely unprofessional and I should have noticed when our crackhead manager threw her head on the desk over lease signing because we reminded her of our move-in discount which we were promised! There is now "new" management but they are no better.… See More>
