I am a UO student and chose Titan Court as an intermediate type of housing between dorms, which I had just moved out of, and a house that I would have to furnish myself, deal with a landlord, etc. I liked that the location was downtown and away from campus after living on campus for a year. However, what I did not know was that I would be this anxious to move out months on months before the end of my lease. Here are (some) of my negative experiences, should you be considering moving here: - DIRTY APARTMENT ON MOVE-IN: When we first moved in to the apartment, half of the drawers in the kitchen were filthy, the carpets and bathrooms had clearly not been thoroughly cleaned, and there was a pair of dirty underwear just sitting in my closet. It was NOT move-in ready. Management did give us a small discount on the first month of rent, but we had to clean our 'new' apartment ourselves, dampening some of our excitement at moving in to our first apartment. - NOISY/THIN WALLS: The walls are paper thin and noises next door, across the hall, or down the hall are incredibly loud. This was a pretty big issue earlier in the year when the building was full, not so much now that most people are gone due to COVID, but still was irritating while it lasted. - WASHING MACHINES: The washing machines are down the hall and frequently broken. I found myself having to go up or down one floor on many occasions just to find one working machine to use. - INTERNET: The wifi goes down pretty frequently, and especially with online classes due to COVID, this has been incredibly inconvenient because the internet often causes my zoom meetings to freeze and disconnect. (It also close to never works on our streaming devices either, and didn't work for about a whole month on them at one point, but Netflix is a little less severe than classes being interrupted- still was annoying though.) - SERVICE REQUEST RESPONSE: Management is pretty terrible at responding to service requests, and I have had MANY things go wrong with the apartment (that were not caused by anything human-related). The most frustrating example was when our freezer started making an incredibly loud whining noise that lasted for an hour or two, would stop for maybe 20 minutes and then continue. It was SO loud that I could not focus on my schoolwork or sleep at night. I submitted a service request and they never bothered to look into it-thankfully it somehow resolved itself after a few (painful) days, but it was very frustrating to get an email MONTHS later notifying me that the service request had been closed when I had never been contacted about it, no one had come into the apartment to check it (home all day due to COVID, so I knew they hadn't come), and I had described the severity of the problem in the service request and they could not be bothered to ever look into it. On top of that, I have had multiple issues with the hot water not working and other similar problems that did get fixed but still very frequently arose. - INSPECTIONS: Management enters your unit very frequently for what they call quarterly inspections but are, in reality, much more often than quarterly and feel like an unnecessary invasion of your space. Quarterly inspections would not feel overboard to me, but we get notices on the door that management will be entering the unit very often and sometimes we only have a day's advance notice (one time they put the paper on our door around 8pm notifying us that they would be entering our unit anytime after 9am the next morning- did not feel like an appropriate amount of time to warn us). They also take three to four days to do it, so you're left wondering for days until they show up exactly *when* you will have to deal with them coming in. In the most recent inspection in the MIDDLE of COVID concerns, the management member that entered my unit was not even wearing a mask and spoke directly to me. - FIRE ALARMS/DRILLS: The fire alarms in the apartment are very sensitive and VERY loud and go off in your unit if you slightly blacken a piece of toast, and then you have to go down to the office or call the on-call number if it's after hours to get it turned off. This is not my main grievance, just a note- this bulletpoint is really about how these VERY loud alarms have gone off in the *entire building* multiple times, forcing a complete evacuation, only to be told 15-30 minutes later that it was a drill (and only told if you asked someone standing outside- they did not communicate about it otherwise), AFTER we were kept outside wondering what was happening. They gave absolutely no advance notice of these drills, and one of them was at around midnight, while the other was in the middle of the day while I was in a zoom class trying to do my schoolwork. There was never any acknowledgment after the fact, either, no emails sent out or anything- just complete silence about the complete evacuation of the building for no apparent reason with no warning. **Side note, while there are no pets allowed, I know of at least 6 cats and 3 dogs that live in the building as, I assume, emotional support animals. If people with an ESA were out at work or shopping during this, their animals likely would have been in severe distress and the owners would have had to way to plan to avoid that. - SECURITY: The automatic doors in front have severe issues and will open if you press the handicap button (a habit developed from COVID to reduce touching things) and open a second time after they close with no prompting, hanging wide open to let anyone at all inside. The elevator and stairs require a key card but it is very easy to follow others inside so I have lived here fully feeling like anyone at all could very easily walk in at any time. There are also always people hanging out in front, right by the doors. OTHER NOTES that are not necessarily the building/management's fault but are negative parts of my experience here: - SAFETY/NOISE: This part of downtown doesn't feel very safe, and I had a window above an alleyway where I constantly saw police, drug use, fights, etc. There was also constant noise from downtown, yelling and screaming, fire alarms from other buildings, trucks and buses constantly going by. It is not a peaceful place to live, just FYI. - COMMUNITY/UTILITIES: I have had multiple negative experiences with people being snooty about their laundry when they left it sitting in the washer for hours on end (I checked back) and then yelling at me when I had to move it to do my clothes, etc- just not a good environment. - ANTS: Not sure whether or not to blame management for this one, but especially once the weather got warmer outside we had an ant problem, even though I religiously take out trash and recycling before it becomes too old, clean off counters and never leave food out etc. I noticed a trail of them coming out from under the molding between the wall and floor (it's rubber and there was a gap at the bottom) and the rest of them I'm not sure where from. It's natural for them to come inside when it's hot but there was nothing drawing them in here and it seemed like there were some problems with the apartment itself allowing them to come in. REDEEMING QUALITIES: - FURNITURE: The apartments come with dining table/chairs, beds/desks/dressers/nightstands in every room, couch/chair/coffee table in the living room, so it's convenient to move into without having to get furnishings if you have none. - STAFF: Despite the negative experiences with inspections/service requests/etc, the staff here are pretty nice and helpful if you can get in contact with them, though the office is often closed unpredictably during the day during its open hours. - EVENTS: They do put together events every month in an attempt to bring residents together and provide festivities, unfortunately this was cut short by COVID but they still try. In short, TC is a less-than-mediocre apartment building that despite its cheap(ish) price is not really worth what you pay, where they talk the talk but don't walk the walk with caring about their residents. I decided I wanted to leave very early on in the lease and everything that happened after that did nothing but solidify my desire to get out, and their blatant neglect of residents' requests and needs while spamming us with calls and texts asking us to renew clearly displays their priorities and apathy towards the quality of living of their residents. Overall: do not recommend.

Titan Court is not a place for people who plan on having the " college experience " or just want to have a social life. However it's fair enough for people who just want a safe and quite place where people keep to themselves and a very local place for entertainment then go right ahead.

The location is great. It’s right downtown and right next to the bus station. The staff does frequent community events. Lots of fun activities and free food. Can’t say no to free pizza and spaghetti and sometimes even sushi. They do need to fix the printer but that’s not that big of a deal I just print at school anyways. It’s not a luxurious apartment complex but luxury isn’t a necessity. You get what you pay for. Great price great location. They also help you find compatible roomates. They have an online system where you answer questions like if you party or are good at sharing things like that to pair you with the perfect roomates. After you match with people you can message them and chat to see if you guys are right for eachother. Kind of like tinder but for roommates and without the least no hookups in my experience. Whatever floats your boat.

This is by far the worst place I have ever lived. The only good thing about it is location. Way too pricey for what they offer. Not to mention the paper thin walls and solo elevator that's always busy/packed. Biggest mistake of my life living here, stay away! Also - the beds are a joke. For a refurnished apartment, they mind as well say what it is. An overpriced dorm.

Titan Court is bad news. They move students with short notice, EVEN DURING FINALS WEEK. True story! Students are exposed to all sorts of drugs from pot to heroine, apparently it's popular there. They will be held responsible for their roommates misdeeds, I quote the manager "Residents are responsible for any damage to their apartment no matter who does that damage." They don't do background checks. My son was paired with men who ended up being physically removed by the police because they were dangerous. So of course they couldn't clean or take their things. When he moved out, he was charged for removal of all THEIR belongings because "residents are responsible for their apartment, no matter who's stuff it is."
