Resident 2012 - 2016

We are a family of five. My eldest daughter was only about 3 months old when we got here. Now, we have 3 kids, 9 months old is our youngest. In the past few years, we attempted to move somewhere else but with thorough thinking we compared Oak Glen Apartments to other apartments around Washington County, is one of the best! We moved from 1 bedroom to 2 bedroom, and about to move from 2 bedroom to 3 bedroom. I think we're going to stay for another 5 years here before buying our first house.

Regretfully I decided to move into this complex when moving from Washington. It is the first apartment I've had, before this I was military and didn't need one. Anyway, they come into your apartment as often as they can. An "annual maintenance check" turned into a monthly thing. I didn't know about the 30 notice on move out thing (which is my fault), and they charged me 400 dollars for the few days over 30 I went. That's almost half of what my monthly rent for a 1 bedroom is. Now to the apartment. Floors squeak constantly, which is odd since they told me they redid all the floors before I moved in. NONE of the initial move in discrepancies were ever fixed. My apartment stay close to 90 degrees year round if my A/C unit isn't plugged in (it's November and I'm using an AC unit). The whole place is sketchy. Find a new place.

These people are just difficult to deal with. As long as you keep your expectations low and never ever have one single problem with your apartment or paying rent you may be ok and just left to deal with seeing the police once a week in the complex. I would not recommend this place.

I do not recommend this place to live at. They are so strict on the rules an they keep raising the rents and the prices are not worth it here. ii have seen more people moving out than moving In. My lease is ending soon thankfully because I am getting out as soon as I can. The manager is not friendly and if there are issues and you need to talk to them it seems like I don't even matter. The only good thing about this place is the location and convenience to a lot of things but I don't think that is a good enough reason to live here! The only way I would recommend living here is if they possibly got a new manager and their prices weren't so high for ok apartments!

As a current resident I do not recommend this place to live! I can't wait for our lease to be up! Their pool has a max of 20 people in this decent size complex, no hot tub, the maintenance crew lives at each corner of the complex so it's like your watched on a daily bases and they tell you you can't drink on your deck which I think is BS since you pay rent not just for the apartment, but for the deck connected to it! These apartments are very cheaply made and not worth the crazy prices they ask for! They use metal screws to hold on plastic handles for all their cabinets, which btw strip the handles constantly!

            Living, but not living well.

Don't make a peep! This is Oak Glen's motto. It doesn't matter what time of the day it is if your making a sound or doing anything else that is required for normal daily living, there will be a complaint! (Complaint forms are the apartments specialty.)It is common knowledge that apartments with lower building costs are bound to have some noise, especially for those on lower floors. This is not exceptable in Oak Glen Apartments. You must not walk, talk or shut your doors. Your small animal must be caged to prevent any sound they might make and your children must sit on their beds the entire day or play in the street as they are not allowed on the sidewalks. As a apartment tenants of many years we are very conciencious of those around us and keep our noise to a normal minimum. We do not play our stereo loud, jump around, or even make ANY sound past 9pm. We are not even in our apartment for most of the day and still receive multiple complaints. The mangament team is all about authority and making them selves seem higher and better than their tenants. It is sad to see… See More>

rent is late after the 4th and the staff has been great to me as long as it is in the office before they open on the 5th. i also usually explain to the manager before the first and she is good. are you sure you are at the right place. maintenance is great too

                Don't Live Here...

One time I paid my rent on the 5th at 12pm b/c my work told us we wouldn't get our monthly bonuses at the end of the month as usual, so I paid on my next payday on my lunch break to avoid being late. On Oak Glen's renter's agreement it says a fee won't be charged as long as your rent is paid by the 5th. I have never been late on any sort of payment in my life! But my work screwed us out of our bonus's without giving us time to budget. Even though I paid by the 5th DURING THE BUSINESS DAY I still was charged a late fee. Even though I had been living here 11months and never paid rent late and explained the unusual circumstances causing me to be short on money they still charged me! I was told I could get it waived if I had been living there just 1 more month without being late-GREEDY, UNCOMPASSIONATE, SNOTTY -------. They had no sympathy for my situation and pretty much scolded me. I'm pretty easygoing and can deal with maintenance issues if staff is pleasant, but I have nothing good to say about Oak… See More>

                  Ok place to live.

It's quiet nice place to live. We lived here for about 5 years now. Of course, there are a few flaws. Nothing is ever perfect. I would not know about the claims on getting the deposit back because I haven't moved away yet, but I know that the mold issue is real and is yet to be dealt with. And the new renters get a better deal on their rent than the long time residents, so seniority is not a word in their vocabulary. It is possible to find a cheaper place, but then again nothing is perfect! Management has always been nice to me the whole time I been here and they never bug you. You will not have the problem half the other apartments in the metro are have with the parking spaces. We have friends over all the time and never had a problem with people towing their cars. The mold has become a concernsince we have a child. We'll see what they do about it...

                    Nice enough apartments

These are nice enough apartments for the money. I have lived here for a couple of years and all maintenance requests have been taken care of quickly. Fortunately I haven't had the problems that others note here, including having no problems with the office staff. They could invest a bit more in replacing items that are worn out when apartments change hands and that's really my only complaint. I would have been happier if they had replaced my medicine cabinet for example. I suppose I'll push for that again when my lease renewal comes up.

                      Run Away

Office staff are two-faced, and went out to 2-4 hour lunches all the time. Walked over to give a rent check on a Sat and they refused to date it for that same day...insisted on dating my receipt for the following Monday, as that's when they could take it to the bank. Then charged me a late fee. Had a flood which turned out to be due to a reoccuring problem that they refused to fix as it was too expensive (the plumber they called in told me that, why would he make that up?). I had to bang on the manager's door to get help with it as they weren't answering their phone (meanwhile the water continued to rise, no way to shut it off that I knew about as it was coming from another apt), and they did come to help, bringing the teenaged son. Had to throw out most of the stuff from that room and some from the next. Noticed later that a basket I had set aside telling them "Don't touch that, I will wash and keep the stuff in there" was gone. It had several pieces of jewelry in… See More>

                        Unit 130

These pictures were taken August 11, 2008. This unit has had continuous problems with Mold. The pictures tell the story, the maintenance request to correct the problem shows the attitude of the property management. "Alledged Mold". (Will attach later.) If it grows like mold, looks like mold, smells like mold, IT IS MOLD. Other Units have had the same issue with the property management company, they will not acknowledge the fact their is a Mold Issue onsite. It took Oak Glen 7 days to have someone come in and clean the walls. This has been an ongoing battle. Can't wait to be gone from this mold trap................. Before You move In BE SURE to ask for RESTORATION verification. What I heard they just painted over the MOLD. If you have kids with allergies, beware.

Worst Place to live: I recently received an Air Conditioner Installation Agreement, on the agreement they require " The Unit must be installed by a licensed and insured contractor". Let's ask their assistant manager if she has a receipt from a licensed and insured contractor? Can they post this for all the tenants to see as we should all be treated equally. Once again, rules are applied differently.

I didn't want to go home

I lived at Oak Glen in their biggest 1 bed/bath for 14 months. until 4/2008 Noise...oh god. (note, i work nights so this was a biggy for me) The 2/3 beds are all on the top floors above the 1 beds, so you can hear the entire family above you walking around. Or as in my case the kids chasing around pets. Can also hear every shower and flush of the toilet. Now granted my neighbors were jerks, when confronted they pretended not to speak english so this maybe you'll get lucky. The grounds keeping is great, however I don't understand why it takes over 2 hours to mow and trim the little bit of green grass that grows there. Needless to say, the windows don't block any of that sound. Garbage The Bin was just out front of my apartment and always full. Not a problem as there are many other bins on site, however the smell is a problem as many residents tend not to bag their garbage (ie..its a trashy place) $$$ The price just kept going up. Raised my rent price $55 in the time i was there, about 7.5% increase from my original rent. And beware of moveout if you are… See More>

As a current resident, I can say I have never lived in a more disorganized environment. We have not had On-site maintenance since Decemember 2007. We have not had on-site manager since September 2007. If you need something repaired you must wait months...My neighbor moved in, in November the guest bathroom toliet and sink were not fuctional for 5 MONTHS! How can a property rent units knowing they are not going to beable to service them?? My Warning to you, STEER CLEAR of this place it sucks anlong with the two faced staff.

I lived in a one bedroom at Oak Glen for a little over a year, and absolutely loved it. My apartment was gorgeous, bright and airy with huge windows and high vaulted ceilings. It was the perfect size for just me (and my cat, they do allow pets). Neighbors were quiet, maintenance needs were handled immediately, office staff is friendly and polite, and very on top of things. It's right next to a grocery store/strip mall, so everything you need is right within walking distance. It's close to MAX lines too. I had to move away from the Portland area, but if I could, I'd move back in there in a heartbeat!
