By far the best apartment and best apartment experience of my rent-filled life. Coming from NYC I needed a relatively soft landing that would still allow me to walk everywhere yet have the additional benefit of having nature just a 20 minute bike ride away. ASA fit the bill perfectly. Best staff and customer service ever. I highly recommend ASA! Upon reading some of the other reviews, I feel they're an exaggeration at best. 1) I've never seen an elevator locked down for whole day - a few hours at max, and even it were, is it such a big deal to walk stairs once in a while? If it is, you shouldn't live in a high rise. 2) Parking was always available, and yes you have to pay for it on the street during prime time or the garage full time, but what city doesn't have that? If you can't afford parking, you shouldn't have a car in a downtown city environment. 3) And on a rare occasion of seeing a homeless man, I was more likely to have compassion than fear. Portland's homeless are like ballerinas compared to those of most cities. Actually, it was more common to see someone begging for money at the Safeway than anywhere on ASA's property. 4) And I never once in four years heard a door slam. My old boss once told me that 10% of the people you meet are nuts. On line it's probably higher! :-) Take an average, folks. If there's 9 THUMBS UP to every 1 THUMBS DOWN, it's more likely that person's issues than what apartment is being reviewed.
