Resident 2015 - 2021

I just bought a baseball bat to fight off the meth heads who live here. Not kidding. The manager and owners have left us here without any sort of protection from the METH MANUFACTURING COMMUNITY who occupy most of the residences here. DEFINITELY DO NOT MOVE HERE.

Do you want to live in an apartment building that has ticking going on all hours of the night that they claim is from their heating so they don't have to do anything about it and you get about 3 hours of sleep a night? (I have videos if you wish to hear them) Do you want to slip and fall on ice on their steps 3 days after the ice storm because they claim that no one can make it up the hill to clean the steps? (I have pictures from 3 days after) Do you want to live in a building that the temp will randomly spike up to 80º and you have no control of the temp? (pictures to prove that as well) Do you want to live in an apartment that still has asbestos in the ceilings? (but since they tell you in the lease....) Well I have the perfect apartment complex for you!! Located past OHSU campus so if there's any ice you can't go to work!

I do not recommend renting there at all. It is an older building where you could hear your neighbors yelling and throwing objects into the walls, smoking, playing loud music. All the noises you'd want to avoid when you come home to rest. Also, there are constant mold issues, water leakage issues, which effect the apartment as well as hallways, and constant plumbing issues. There is a current spider problem, where you'd see black spiders all the time. In addition, the management does a very poor job on maintaining units, including not ever responding to any of the tenant e-mails or calls. The rent for apartments is too high for what it actually offers. I strongly do not recommend renting there, if you do you will regret it.

We moved to City View in July 2013 from Tualatin, OR. So far the experience has been an adventure, we are really enjoying. Everything is right down the hill from us. While it sucks you have to pay for parking everywhere downtown, the options are awesome! We have spent tons of time at Powell's Books because it's just down the hill and the shopping! Everything is super close by! We take the OHSU tram to Dr appointments, have seen bicycle and funny Christmas sweater marathons go by and have really enjoyed all of the fresh fruits and veggies the downtown Farmer's Markets provide during the Summer. Now that fall's here we are excited about the trees changing colors and the upcoming party the Management team is throwing "Welcome Autumn". I look forward to meeting my neighbors and making some new friends before winter hits! Thank you City View Management for making this a great place to come home to; I look forward to finishing out my school term here!

My wife and I just moved from Ohio to Portland. We chose City View because the manager made it super easy to transition. I just finished school and am starting my new job at OHSU. I get a 3% discount on my rent for being an OHSU employee, which also made it an easy decision. My apartment is exactly what she showed in the pictures she emailed and she installed new carpet, just as she said. I am very happy here so far. My neighbors seem quiet and I have an assigned parking spot, which I had a hard time finding for under #150 per month. I highly recommend City View Apartments for the view and peaceful atmosphere. I plan on staying at least 2 years.

We have lived in City View for a little over a year in a one bedroom. The apartments have been great. They have great storage, and are pretty large for a one bedroom. Not to mention the view! The price for these apartments is near impossible to find in the Portland area for the quality that they are. And it is awesome to have the trails right at your door step. The management and maintenance crew have been amazing! Seriously I have never bragged about a maintenance guy at any place that we have lived, but they have made our experience living here. I would totally recommend City View. The only reason we are moving is because we want more "walkability" restaurants, shops etc.

I just moved into City View and I am really exited! My apartment has hardwood floors, the REAL kind, not the fake vinyl stuff. I have an assigned parking space but I walk to work because OHSU is literally a 5 min walk from here. At the top of the property, there is the start of Conner Trail. Having 2 dogs, I am really exited to have somewhere, in the city, to exercise them. The move in was quick and painless and my deposit was only $400! I highly recommend City View to anyone looking for a great view and easy access to downtown. I give this place 2 thumbs up!

                Good Enough

I have lived here for over 6 months now and there is a lot of good and also a lot of not so good. I live in the first building at City View, I refused to live in any of the others because they are down a giant hill. We live in the 400 square foot apartment. I do love my apartment, and my husband and I are really happy with where we live. It is true that you can hear a whole lot through the walls. We live in a top floor apartment so we have no noise from above which is a huge plus. We have gotten a noise compliant before because we were coughing to loud. Everyone in my building is super sweet and almost everyone here owns a dog. In my building most of my neighbors are nurses or students so it is normally super quiet. I never have a problem sleeping or watching or movie. When our neighbors do get rowdy across the hall we can hear it on the far side of our apartment. Maintenance really sucks, and I mean really. They did a scheduled check of the apartment and nothing was fixed,… See More>

                  Completely Agree-THEY SUCK!

Hugetime. Always changing management. New landlady is completely callous & disinterested in the tenant's concerns. There is always construction and they start at the @$$ crack of dawn. The parking lot is awkward and they charge $75/mo for parking. The originally tried to charge $150/mo until the tenants wouldn't pay it. The building is old and falling apart with mold. Dont move here. The location is great, management sucks.

                    Nope, things have changed...

DO NOT rent here unless you love cigarette smoke, soft conversations (and any other noise) heard through your walls and ceiling at 3 a.m., paying extra for parking, trash, furniture, and broken bottles left around the property, barking dogs, stereos, and car mufflers at all hours, common area lights never being replaced, never-answered calls from management, rude, low-life neighbors, etc. The good maintenance guy is now gone, also. This is now a LOW-END property. Do not rent here unless you are used to tenement housing. You'll just end up being very frustrated and never get any rest. All of the City View properties in this complex are owned by the same people with same management. Don't do it...

They just changed management companies. The new manager is nice but very overwhelmed. She seems like she's in over her head. The new maintenance guy is not that great. You have to keep asking when your work order will get done. The building itself is run down and cold. It literally looks like it's going to fall down. The parking here is a nightmare!!! And I was away from my apartment and need to get a hold of the office and I tried calling a few times, THEIR NUMBER HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED! Not paying the bills? I'll try the corporate office number tomorrow. PLEASE KEEP LOOKING BEFORE YOU SETTLE HERE. You are not that desperate! Wait til winter gets here and you'll be stuck here forever! God help you! My lease is not up soon enough!

and its the view. just like everyone else is saying. these apartments are TERRIBLE. the walls are thin, the apartment is small (its like an oversized studio), and the manager isn't the nicest nor the smartest person in the world (she never knew the answer to any questions i asked and would "have to get back to me"), washers and dryers suck, theres nothing but a plaid pantry even remotely close and i could keep going. i also complained about the person below me many times due to him being inconsiderate and even coming up to my apartment and being rude. it didnt do any good. after about the 4th time i complained the manager told me to call the corporate managing office and talk to them about it. tried that, never could get ahold of the guy she told me to contact and never got a return phone call. they want nothing to do with you other then taking your $$$$ if you move here which i HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY suggest you dont. the rent you pay is paying for the view...if youre lucky enough to even get an apartment that has one. cause the apartment you get will disappoint and… See More>

Was renting a unit from this place when it was sold from Princeton Mgmt group (who were perfectly friendly & pleasant to deal w/) to Cambridge. Cambridge came in and bumped my rent up by $100/month -- which was too much for me to afford and so I gave 30 days notice, cleaned the place real well and moved back down off the hill. Had an absolute NIGHTMARE of a time in moving and attempting to reclaim my deposit. They erroneously claimed I didn't ever pay a deposit and ignored several letters I wrote to both the on-site manager, as well as the property group headquarters, explaining/proving that I did pay one, and requesting it refunded. After approximately 5 months (several letters written and at least two trips to their offices to hand deliver letters) I finally reached a woman on the phone who politely explained, "oh yeah -- we've been having some problems there. How much did you pay?" I was so incensed at the time I didn't even have the composure to express my disbelief at their ineptitude, but rather just informed them of my deposit amount and gave them the forwarding address for my refund (which was… See More>

Who wants to overpay to live on the side of a hill with absolutely nothing near it? Accessing this place was unpleasant. I had to drive down a windy street and down a steeeeep driveway. It's in a lousy location for sure. Pretty old apartments for the price, they're asking way too much. The place is quiet, that's about the only good thing.

I hated this place. I had to break my lease and move out after moving in for just a few months. The building is very poorly built. It is old, badly maintained, dark and dirty, the walls are horribly thin and the floors creak loudly all the time. Mind you, I have lived in apartments for 5 previous years and this was the first time I have every complained about apartment quality or noise. When I moved out after just 2 months, they charged me almost $600 for maintenance and improvements that were in no way due to any fault of mine. They are not giving me back my deposit either. I am trying to get my money back and they say that now I have to deal with a collections agency and that they can't discuss my account anymore. They sent my records to a COLLECTIONS AGENCY after trying to contact me ONE TIME by mail only. They had my phone number, my e-mail address and they sent my records to a collections agency after 1 letter demanding payment for $595. I lived here for 3 years and then moved due to relocation. The mgmt is excellent, everything was always fixed right away (not that I need anything hardly fixed ever), great hiking/biking trails right out my back door, away from noise and traffic, close to downtown, easy on/off freeways- The only draw back is the steep 2 pitch driveway. Other than that...I would recommend this place to anyone!!

He provided recent photos of the apartment and even measured the layout for me so I could visualize it better and paln for my furniture. Once I got here I was in awe of the driveway but it's nothing to worry about, it's just really steep. Teh fact is I'm surrounded by trees and minuts from school and I don't have to pay to store/park my car.

This is a nice quiet place to live. You never really get to meet your neighbors, but it is ok. I have met a couple and everyone so far seems very nice. The On Site is the coolest dude ever. The only thing i'd be aware of is the snowy winters. The ice build up can be bad. Although the on-site is great at gettting the roads clean to get out, it is very hard to get out. The 2 driveways are VERY steep. And the other downfall is the rent increases way to often. Do not sign a 3 month unless you have too. And do not try and think if you are moving from out of state to bring a car on the back of a moving truck is ok, CUZ IT IS NOT. These apt's are on a pretty much one way dead end street. No way to turn the trailer around, take the car off the trailer on the main road.

                                          Great, but not for everyone.

I loved this apartment, however there are a few things that may bother some people. I'll list the negatives first. The location is close to downtown, however there is a rather large and steep hill. If you walk or bike it may take a little bit to get used to(especually the uphill trip home), but if you drive it probably won't be a probelem. The only other thing is that the apartments are a little small for what you pay, however my apartment had a fantastic view of downtown and the smaller space didn't bother me at all. The place is old, and a bit rundown looking to be honest. But Its well maintained and nothing in my apartment was ever faulty or broken. Despite that, I thought this place was great. The Manager is incredibly nice and responsive to any and all requests. Every maintinence request I put in was either responded to the next day(or day of), or if it was a complex problem, that week when the mainenance guy came. I've been here for two months now and it is awesome. The landlord is very attentive and when the washing machine 'ate' my quarters, he was 'johnny-on-the-spot' and had the machine serviced the next morning. He and his wife really seem to care about us. The views are remarkable from my deck - I can see downtown Portland, Mt. St. Helens, and the top of Mt. Adams when it is really clear. The amenities are modest, but more than adequate, so don't expect a dishwasher, disposal, in apartment W&D. My range had me flashback to my childhood in the early seventies. It would be nice to get a new one instead of the Chewbacca brown I currently have, but hey, it cooks my meals. It is a very QUIET place, which I love. The only time I know I have neighbors is when they are taking a shower. This is great for med students, as OHSU and NCNM are within walking distance of the place. It is surrounded by Marquam Hill Nature Park - be sure to bring your binoculars, or buy a pair if you don't have one, because the bird watching is amazing. The units are a little older and the pipes tend to creak a little bit but that's to be expected with a building that was erected more than 20 years ago. However, the parking is always good! The driveway can be a little steep but it just takes some getting used to. The manager is fantastic and always responds to questions or concerns immediately. In fact, I think the manager might be the only thing I would miss if I were to leave!

                                                Conveniently located, quiet apartment complex

We have been here for almost a year and a half now and plan to stay here for another year when we will be done with school/work. If you work or go to school at OHSU, you can't beat the convenience of living so close. Marquam Village is also very quiet, it has been very rare that we have had problems with noisy neighbors, and there have never been any real major disturbances. There is absolutely no street noise to deal with and our neighbors keep their pets very quiet, which is amazing considering most people who live here have dogs. We have had the same manager since we have lived here and he has been great. He shoveled our driveways by hand when we had a lot of snow last January, and he keeps the laundry room and the entire complex as neat as possible. There are two steep driveways to get out of the complex, with the lowest driveway being so steep that if it snows at all it is practically impossible to get out. That being said, there aren't many instances here in Portland where that is an issue more than a couple times per year. Parking,… See More>

                                                  real crappy customer service

i had my purse and car stolen and when i paged the manager to get a key so i could get in my apt. he told me that their policy doesn't count that as an after hours emergency and that i needed to call a locksmith. what the hell??? and he lives on site!! the place isn't that great to begin with but this really sent me over the edge. so i would not recommend to anyone.
