Resident 2014 - 2017

6/3/2017

If, after reading all the other horrid reviews, you still decide to live here, you're going to need this: That's a link to the Oregon State Bar regarding tenant rights. I became well acquainted with this site when I went without properly working heat for over three weeks. The thermostat failed and the heat would not turn off, causing the temperature in my apartment to spike into the 90's. The solution offered by the leasing office was to turn it off at the breaker until it could be fixed. Three weeks later, a repairman finally arrives and refuses to replace the thermostat because he claimed it was working fine and offered some excuse about the cost of a thermostat. The next day I escalated my concern with the manager on site and the thermostat was replaced the same day. After my heat was fixed, my energy usage dropped dramatically and after reviewing my electric bills, I realized that while the heat previously functioned, the thermostat was faulty from the day I moved in, causing wintertime electric bills to be about $300 on average(some of the apartments are lofts and there's no energy efficiency measures to speak of, so the electric bills were shocking, but plausible at the time). After addressing this concern with management, I was offered $50 for my trouble on a letter from the company's attorney claiming no basis for compensation. Wimbledon Square: Where the rents may be cheap, but you pay for it in so many other ways. If you're still on the fence about living here, my piece of parting advice is to select a unit with a fireplace. Not only in case you find yourself with heating issues, as well, but because you'll need it to destroy sensitive documents. Management refuses to to take any action(literally replacing a lock) to address the countless people scavenging in the trash. To be clear, I'm not talking about can collectors or people picking up furniture by the dumpsters. I'm talking about people crawling inside the trash compactor and tearing through bags of actual trash. If you have any other choice in housing, take it, trust me. If you don't, you can always park your car on the street inside the complex and live in it like so many others are already doing. At least then, you're not paying for this experience.
