Resident 2009 - 2012

2/8/2012

So I have been at Long Meadows for over 2 years now. I may be moving out soon and wanted to share my experience. First I will list the few pros of Long Meadows -Safety, this is one of the only pros of this complex the safety and relatively quiet nature of the area. I walked my dog night late at night and never felt unsafe. -Maintenance is relatively speedy and moderately good at fixing things (even if the apartment is too damn cheap to ever replace anything that breaks) -Parking is adequate -Front office staff were generally friendly and helpful Now the cons -A majority of the complex is inhabited by Indian people who are extremely unfriendly and who will subject you to the worst smelling food you will ever experience and the fans/vents in the outdated kitchens do not work so the smell just lingers for hours -Stink bugs, bed bugs and roaches., I can't blame the complex for the filthy people and they did make an effort to have regularly scheduled exterminator visits but they should have done more to ensure people were maintaining clean living areas -Apartments are extremely small and outdated. Be prepared for high utility bills from the old and inefficient appliances, heating/cooling systems and windows. My refrigerator quit working when I first moved in and instead of replacing it they brought me a series of old fridges that also did not work. It took about a week to get a working one. -Walls are paper thin and you will hear you neighbors a lot who also slam their doors all hours of the day and night -Finally the move out notice. You pay a $300 non refundable pet fee and $30 pet rent a month and then upon moving they expect you to have your apartment professionally exterminated for fleas. What the hell is the pet fee for when you are expected to pay this out of pocket also. You also have to have the rugs professionally cleaned as well, no doing it yourself to save a few bucks because they demand a receipt for both services upon move out. I find this unacceptable especially when I have probably paid over $1000 in pet fees since living here and then have to pay for things the apartment should be responsible for. I can't recommend Long Meadows because the cons outweigh the pros and the unfair move out requirements.
