Resident 2015 - 2017

Appliances are extremely out of date. Only a few apartments have updated ones. Appliances are from the 80s and 90s. Landlord won't fix anything, she'll complain because she has to do her job. Walls are paper thin. Hallways are musty and gross. She never changes the front trash enough and it smells disgusting, it's embarrassing to bring people over because of this. Downstairs apartments have mold and upstairs leaks. The owners refuse to invest any money in this ---- hole and they've been losing tenants because of it. Stay away from this place. It's almost $700 a month and it's not worth it. A cardboard box is one step below westgate and that s**t is free to live in. If your a student I recommend investing in a car and moving to Erie. Rent is cheaper, houses are bigger and nicer plus it's safer. There's been two shootings next to or near westgate in the past few years.

HORRIBLE landlords. Will never, ever make repairs in a timely manor... or at all, and the one guy (one of the owners I believe- not sure) will walk right into your apartment after knocking, without waiting for a response. That's illegal. The apartments are noisy, and we could smell pot smoke from our neighbors for an entire semester. We complained multiple times but nothing ever changed. Plus when we were showed the apartments the one we viewed was clean and well kept. The one we ended up getting smelled distinctly of cat pee... We lived there before we graduated and it was just terrible. When we were asked if we wanted to renew our lease we laughed.

The management is wonderful Diane is very understanding and accommodating for college students. The price for the unit is also really good for the amount of space. There is usually a lot of parking available. It is a good place for students that want to get off campus but still want the ability to walk to class. Also the over summer storage is great! There is a small fee, but it really beats having to move all your stuff out or pay full rent when you are not living in the apartment.

The management couldn't be friendlier. Diane addresses any issue you may have but it's unlikely you will have one for a one or two semester stay. The price is reasonable. Sure the walls are a bit thin, and it can be drafty; however, for the price and proximity to campus, it's a great deal. Hint: Your landlord or property manager is not your roommate arbitrator. She does a sincere and professional job, but she is not your counselor. Know your roommates before making the decision to live together. Other than that, Diane will set you up in a pinch with roommate matching but leave the decision to live together with you. She was also helpful for me who was in a bad situation and needed a place in weeks. Thank you again, and best of luck to all who stay.

This was probably the best place I've lived so far. It's nice and quiet--you almost forget about the college. They recently underwent some major renovations inside and out. The management is helpful at all hours of the day or night, and the apartments themselves are pretty nice. They aren't furnished but I did up my apartment for almost free, because of the amount of useable stuff left by prior tenants. It was a peaceful place, decent during the semester and amazing in the summer.

              Quiet, Roomy, Cheapest In Area

Any bad reviews that you see are most likely from the short time when the building was in between owners and everything got disorganized. I moved here during my senior year of college. I graduated, got married, and now live here with my husband. I guess what I'm trying to say is, it's a good place to live. The new managers here have been busting their butts to make this a comfortable place to live. We have a new laundry room with new washers, dryers, change machine, etc. There's enough parking for everyone. The apartments are spacious. I don't agree with the no pets rule, but there's not much I can do about it right now. The managers are VERY friendly and try to work with your needs as much as possible. The building is located very close to campus, but just far enough away that you can get a commuter sticker to park on campus. The tenants are much quieter in this building than others that I have lived in. If you like to blast your music to all hours of the night and have a bunch of loud friends over all the time, this isn't the place for… See More>

                best value in boro

i have been a resident of westgate apartments from august 06 to current. there have been some good reviews and bad ones, but most of the bad reviews seem a little off to me. i origionally signed under the former owner, who did nothing in the way of repairs, ect. the building was sold spring 07' and place under a new managment team that continues the former owners practice of assigning rent amounts randomly. After the new owner/investor was informed of the mismanagment of the property a change was again made to the current manager. the current manager is by far the most polite apartment manager i have ever had so far and i have live in college park, and other properties around town. they are easy to get in touch with, all you have to do is walk down the hall to the office through the day or call the office number. even later at night it is possible to contact managment, simply by calling the office number. some of the apartments are newly renovated, and more are getting updated and repaired. There is plenty of parking, although at night it gets a little filled. there is some noise,… See More>

                  Awful

I lived in this apartment for a year. Allow me to list the things you should expect in this housing complex: 1. The fire alarm sounds at all hours of the day for no reason. On one year, it went off three times. This is actually prohibited by law. It is very dangerous to have a "boy who cried wolf" situation like this one. 2. Cockroaches. No need to explain here. 3. Don't be fooled by the pictures. Only a few complexes are re-done. The rest are really poor with dirty carpeting, wood paneled walls, chipped paint, etc... 4. The owner is a mob boss in San Fransisco. 5. Poor common areas, including stair ways and halls. These areas are never swept, re-painted, or cleaned. The common areas also smell. 6. A $1,000 pet deposit per pet. 7. The landlord told me on the first day I met her that "I didn't want to get itno student housing and I wish I didn't." She has this attitude when dealing with anything. The landlords are very hard to get in touch with. 8. The rent prices fluxate from tenant to tenant. 9. They charge late fees illegally. Under federal law, you are allowed up to four days past… See More>
