Resident 2010 - 2011

3/31/2011

I live here. Its nice but Management is not up to par. I have no real gripes about the place, though I wish they'd update their windows. Cold air seeps in like crazy, so buy the window sealants in Home Depot or some place to keep the warmth in during the winter. Management isnt that great, though they come off nice in the beginning. Jennifer is the manager. If they hired more maintenence men, things would get done lickity split. However, they have 2-3 guys for at least 3 different apartment complexes. Whatever you do, make sure your keys work for each door, especially the security door cuz if you get locked out, you have to pay a locksmith to get in. Make sure the locks work on your windows cuz some dont. The bedroom is big with a nice walk in closet big enough for two people. The kitchen is TINY! The dishwasher works but its old and I sometimes have to run in twice to get a good rinse. The living room is a great size with a big window to bring in the light. There is plenty of space for a kitchen table. Washers and dryers are on every floor shared by 4 apartments for 1.50 each. There is only one light fixture in the aparmtment near the air conditioner, and its a fan, thank god. The kitchen, bathroom and closet have lights. The bills are easy. I pay 40-45 bucks for electric and 60 for baseboard heat in the winter. The thermostats are old, so take care with how you turn it up/down. We're gonna buy new ones in the fall. Electric during the summer is $60-80 depending on how much you use your air conditioner and which floor youre on. Parking is fine. Complex is close to Giant, Price Rite and Acme. If you can afford a $25 pet fee, get a cat cuz despite the fact that oaktrees claims to have an exterminator come once a month, mice run freely here. I have a cat and he caught one mouse so far and we havent seen any since, but we hear them in the ceiling and walls. Its creepy. My poor cat goes crazy following the sounds of mice. They dont allow dogs, unfortunately, though I swear I see people taking their dogs out of the apartment complex and bringing them back in. I guess its a "If they catch us" thing. You can only get COMCAST. No RCN, Verizon, or direct tv. The complex has a contract with Comcast and comcast is expensive if you like a lot of channels. I pay 100 bucks for cable/dvr and internet. I dont need a lot of channels. So, altogether I'd say Oak Tree's not bad. For $715 plus a pet fee, its not bad.
