Resident 2015 - 2018

10/7/2018

I rented here for almost four years. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you can afford to. - Maintenance: a joke. The previous manager did repairs so poorly or not at all that I stopped calling unless it was an emergency like the tile falling out of the bathtub because of the thick, black mold underneath. This was fixed by slapping up some plastic panels and the job didn't get finished, but my bath mat got ruined. The building didn't have a back door for around a year because they kept falling off. This meant it snowed inside in winter and the electric heating bills skyrocketed. At one point the door was boarded shut which the fire chief had to put an end to. Also there was serious flooding in multiple basements so don't ever store anything down there. One had several inches of water multiple times due to a drainage pipe pointed down into the basement. - Noise: my (multiple sets of) neighbors were constantly screaming at each other. The property manager sent out a notice not to bother him and instead deal with it yourself or call the police. The walls and floors are thin. - Speaking of the police, an officer in the parking lot showed me a picture of a resident and asked me if I had seen him and to call 911 if I spotted him. I wasn't surprised. - Expect to replace the smoke detector. Mine had expired several years before I moved in and per the lease it is your responsibility. - Take a closer look at the hack job kitchen renovations. The outlets pull out of the wall and everything is pretty shoddy. This is what to expect for everything here. - Laundry: despite their listings saying there are w/d or hookups in every apartment THIS IS NOT TRUE. There are two washers and dryers in each building basement for the 1-2 bedroom buildings. The lights are rarely functional and it does not feel safe to be alone. The laundromat down road is ok, but I have encountered some sketchy characters there. It is also expensive. You can find a much better place to live in Hanover. Tenant turnover is high for a lot of reasons and all these reviews are not lying. Steer clear.
