I lived at The Glen at Lafayette Hill for 13 months. The complex itself is very nice and clean and the residents are all very polite and respectful. I never once had an issue with another neighbor so that goes to show that they care about the type of people that they allow to live there. One small issue, which comes with living in most apartment complexes is, the walls are VERY thin. I could hear my neighbors alarm clock go off every morning, his dogs bark every time a door opened in the complex, and even hear him sneeze. It was a little frustrating but that comes with the nature of apartment living. The management, however, is horrible. While the leasing agent is very helpful and does as much as she can, her manager and the maintenance is enough to make me tell someone to never live there. The maintenance team is extremely over-worked and under-staffed and half of the time they are guessing on how to complete a request. It would take several weeks, often months, for a final solution to a maintenance problem. They would come and say it was fixed, only to see the same issue re-occur in a day. While the maintenance team is extremely nice and friendly, they simply need more help and training. As for the management, it is absolutely horrible. My apartment unfortunately flooded out completely, because of the unit above us over-flowing her toilet while everyone was at work, and she was held completely unaccountable. Our entire apartment had to be gutted (walls, ceiling, carpeting, personal property) and we were left with nowhere to live. The flood was found after we got home from work and it was dark out and we had to move all of our furniture and pack up what we could salvage in the dark, alone and covered in toilet water, with no help from the management team. The only way that we would get answers for a timeline of moving back in would be to harass the management, who didn't have any definite answers, and also could not place us to live anywhere. I would have to stop in to the apartment every day just to check up on the progress of the construction because I wasn't getting answers from anyone. I would find our personal property damaged and dirty from the maintenance crews just throwing it everywhere. None of our sofas, entertainment center, lamps, end tables, etc. were covered up when construction began, leaving a film of dust all over everything when they tore the drywall down. The property did end up hiring an outside cleaning staff after several complaints about my personal property. After several attempts to get answers from the property manager, I ended up having to do research on my own and get contact information for Paradise Management to help me get answers because the property manager would be MIA for days, while we had nowhere to live and all of our personal belongings were soaked and in piles in our apartment. The Glen ended up leaving us with nowhere to live for 15 days. They ended up rushing to get the work half-completed after I contacted higher up's and we moved in to the unit with work still to be completed. While this was a very unfortunate and unlucky event event that happened there and most likely wouldn't happen to most people, I wouldn't allow any of my friends or family members live there and risk having to deal with that management team and worry about something happening to them also.
