Resident 2013 - 2015

3/4/2015

The townhouses are very large but sub standard quality. The doors and windows are very drafty and the heat/ac unit is very outdated and inefficient. Claimed to have new appliances but they are just cleaned up and shuffled from place to place based on the immediate need. Carpet and flooring are worn and haphazardly installed and the fixtures are cheap brass from the 90's. "Updated bathrooms" are old cabinets painted over (including the hardware) with a new vanity/mirror and the closet doors are all metal folding doors that don't stay on the track and are very loud. Snow removal and maintenance are a joke and the only way to get things done is to threaten to put the rent in escrow until it's fixed then the come right away. Claim to have breed restrictions for dogs but they are not enforced, there are several pit bulls and mixtures of large aggressive dogs throughout the neighborhood. The grass gets pretty long since they cut it a maximum of once per week even in the peek growing months. Almost no one picks up after their dogs so it's like a minefield whenever you want to walk through the grass. I called the cops on a loud neighbor when I first moved in because they were having a party outside and he told me I was in for a ride but I've been pretty lucky with noise since, my building has pretty considerate people overall. I have never had an issue with rodents or insects and hopefully never will. My kids LOVE the school and a lot of their friends live here so that is definitely a plus. There is a non refundable pet deposit PLUS a significant "cleaning and sterilization" fee that you automatically lose from your security deposit regardless if you have pets even though you are still required to clean and shampoo the carpets before vacating. Plan on paying a $38 utility fee in addition to the rent for W/S/T and at least $200 for electric based in my experience. All in all I tell people it's ------ fabulous. Unfortunately it's pretty hard to find affordable rental homes in this school district so you have to weigh the pros and cons.
