There's only three points I want to make: *Please note that I lived in a 2-bedroom apartment on the second floor, so I can't speak for the other apartments (1) There is no noise insulation between apartments above or below each other. I've lived in four different apartment complexes over the past five years, and this was by far the worst. I didn't notice the problem until about four months into the lease, and I later found out that was because I didn't originally have any neighbors downstairs. The noise between apartments beside each other didn't seem too bad, but the noise from the apartment below was awful. Granted, the neighbors stayed up later, but all they were doing was talking, and it sounded like they were in the same room. I lost so much sleep that I continuously went to the office to politely ask for help. They would temporarily apease me by saying they were looking into noise insulation options, but they never followed up for weeks, so I just kept going back to receive no action, help, or empathy. (2) Be wary of the postive reviews. I only read a few, but I was able to quickly discern that they were written by the apartment office staff. Just keep that in mind when you read some of the reviews ... who honestly highlights some of the things these reviews do. (3) As a follow up to number one, I wasn't very happy with the office staff. I'm a very friendly guy and only ended up getting angry at the staff toward the end of my time at Hawthorne after previous attempts for help (actually, just empathy at times). Because I got married 12 months into a 16-month lease, I ended up paying four extra months of rent as a penalty in order to move out to Hershey for a year where my wife was finishing up her last year of nursing school. In this case also, they said they would help and do what they could to help me avoid the penalty, but I never saw any signs of this after I left the office each time.
