This building is run by the Piazza which is know to have a poor leasing office. The girls I've worked with there are nice but not knowledgeable at all and you can tell they hate working there. Makes it difficult to get answers to questions or concerns. Maintenance requests can be placed online but for larger concerns (ceiling leaks, bugs, etc) trying to get ahold of the maintenance supervisor is a joke. She does not return calls or emails. It took me months to get a roofer to fix my ceiling because of the leaks when it rains. It still isn't fixed in one spot but I have given up. Have also had issues with those large centipede big bugs. The exterminator has come numerous times to spray my unit and it hasn't helped. Windows do not open so I contacted leasing office and said I would get the housing authority involved if they did not open it. The law states all units must have at least one window large enough for a firefighter with full equipment to fit through. They came out and opened two of my four windows roughly one foot each. Better than nothing but screwed if there's an… See More>

I've been living here for almost 6 months, I have some pros and cons The parking is not that secure, we found a car with no rims and tires and left sitting on Bricks! It stayed like that for 1 week, the owner wasn't notified and the land lord knew about it. But you're always going to get a parking spot. You can hear people outside on the street (I live in the top floor) The windows are not insulated and I have dafts in every one of them. I can't hear the neighbors or they are quiet ones, really there is not much going on the hallways. The worst part is the leaks! I got them right at the top of my bed!! the mattress and sheets were spoiled. The person in charge of maintenance never picks up the phone, you CAN'T leave a voice mail! Is always full, but the ones who actually get to work with the unit problem are really nice persons. What I really like about this apt is the windows, they are so big, you're going to get a lot of natural light al day!! Boone lofts is really close to the Piazza and Girard station. Westminster get… See More>

Since the gentrification of NoLibs, the community in the building has been wonderful and is no longer occupied by drug lords or has random people running around the building as a previous poster mentioned. HOWEVER... I have lived in the Boone Lofts for almost three years now. In 2013 a new company, Westminster, purchased the building. Since the purchase I have had nothing but issues. **WARNING: BED BUGS ** They were first officially reported to the tenants in 7/2013 and as of 2/2014, this building still has bed bugs. By the time they were reported to the tenants, many units were already infested. The new landlord leaves much to be desired. The landlord has treated the bed bug issue poorly and has violated tenant rights on more than one occasion. As for the remediation of the bed bugs, they have neglected to respond in a timely manner (1-3 weeks) to correspondence. The responses that they do give are often very rude and have given me either deceitful or blatantly incorrect information. Since they have yet to treat multiple units at once in the last seven months, the bed bugs have just kept returning to my… See More>

        Good to call home...

I love Boone School. I haven't had any major problems and I've been here for about 6 months. Everyone in the building is extremely friendly. I have very little to complain about. Yea, the stairs kind of suck sometimes... and the parking can be weird but it's free off street parking. There's a new security system on the main door. Tower is still developing around the immediate area and there are tons of great little shops, bars and restaurants. In short, I love it here.

          Crackhouse Style

So I am finally moving out. Hell is over. This place is a joke. From day one everyone had problems. Arson, floods, security - you name it. Now the building is pretty much abandoned - as it was before. The first floor is empty - apart from a drug dealer which is one of Tower's former employees. Lovely. So now we have kids on bikes run in and out of the building running drugs. Of course - Tower doesn't care. Also the place is dirty, the mailroom and mechanical rooms are never locked and some of the back doors are not secure so everyone can come and go as they please.
As for Tower - they are the worst company you could rent from. Justin is useless and pretty much lied to everyone just to get them to sign leases and we have gone through various property managers for Boone in the last year. Harrison, the last unskilled candidate is too full of himself to speak with Boone Residents. Overall Tower hires people that in the real world would be unemployed. No matter what they tell you - stay away.

okay if you are looking for a temporary place

I have lived here 6 months and have had few problems. Granted, I do not live on the 1st floor. DON'T MOVE TO THE FIRST FLOOR! That is where most of the problems have happened (floods, etc.) I was looking for a temporary place, just to move to Philly. Tower allows pets, which I had difficulty finding. Security is a bit of a joke, but I have never had security guards at all in any of my previous apartments.
My biggest complaint is the slow responses from Tower and the lack of good communication. I think if management responded more quickly and let tenants know what is going on, Boone would be a better place to live.

Floods, Theft, Fuel Oil Spills, What next??

I lived in the Boone school for 4 months before I had enough, and in that time there were multiple flooding incidents, one apartment had sewage come through the toilet, bath tub, and garbage disposal, others had water come straight up through the floor. Yet another had not water, but FUEL OIL flood their apartment, Tower did not respond to repeated calls until the tenant called the fire dept and the building was evacuated.

The apartments that were flooded all grew an extreme amount of mold in a very short period of time, so its probable that there is toxic mold throughout the building between the walls.

The roof is not secure, and a former roofer who saw the condition the roof in is has told myself and others that it is highly unstable.

The security guards do what they can, but the building is by no means secure, anybody can give the back door a yank and it comes right open. Tenants and one of the security guards have had personal property stolen, and still nothing has been done!

There are drain flies, wharf borers, bot flies, oriental cockroaches and other insects in the building. There are also a lot of less… See More>

                Tower Management Sucks

People who manage this place do not know what they are doing.....and the owner put no money in to constucting the place. Apartment doors have a don't even reach the ground....I'm told by an employee because the owner won't pay for heating or cooling the hallways! Don't be fooled by the looks. Everyone is moving out! No parking either.

                  Scarry people live here!

Shortly after I moved in a woman who lived in the building wanted to know if I just moved in because she had not seen me before. Here this woman is like the apartment building ----! She chews it out both sides of her mouth! There is also another crazy person who lets her dog run around the hallway. The police have been out to their apartment so many times I stopped counting. One time there was blood all over the hallway. As for my apartment...its okay. I liked its first impression. After living here, the people who run the place are clueless and not helpful. Poor constuction of my apartment. Not enough heat in the winter and not enough cool air in the summer! Can't wait to move out. I hope this helps you not choose here to live like I did.

                    RUN AWAY!

DON'T GET SUCKED INTO THIS ABYSS. It's not what it may seem, definitely not what you'll be TOLD it is. The place hasn't been occupied for a full year and people are already breaking their leases or talking about breaking them if they haven't yet. It's COLD, NOISY, has TERRIBLE OFFICE STAFF that do NOTHING to help, and they send you tons of utility bills at once from some bogus company instead of just paying the gas to the gas company. You also pay for water and electric. Your bills never are correct. Stay away from here unless you like headaches.

                      pretty great place

I really don’t know why people are giving this building such a bad rep. I love my apartment and I was one of the first people to live here! The only thing I would change is add an elevator…..only kidding; the building is a “walk-up”. The first time I’ve had to call maintenance was last week and they came out right away and fixed my toilet; (it was running all the time). The maintenance guy was really nice and I appreciated that he called me to tell me he had been to my apartment because I wasn’t home. The apartment has great, huge palladium windows that are so beautiful. The other people I have met in the building are generally really nice, the shops and restaurants in the area are awesome, and the people working in them are the best. It feels like a neighborhood…. Not at all like living in Old City where I didn’t even know my next door neighbor’s name, or the people who worked and owned the restaurants and shops on my block.… See More>

I have no idea who would be rating this apartment with a 5 apart from the owners: Tower Development.
These apartments are the worst I have ever lived in and speaking to my neighbors almost everyone seems to agree.
We have had an arson attack...someone set the mechanical room on fire - due to lack of security. We have had the fire alarm set of on another occasion and now we have had the apartments flooded because the management installed OPEN FLAME PROPANE HEATERS in the hallways. First of all this is far too dangerous and secondly they - of course - set off the sprinkler system.
The apartments are not insulated - you can hear EVERYTHING your neighbors do. The windows aren't insulated either and therefore it is freezing cold and even additional space heaters don't help much.
The material used for the kitchens and bathroom are the cheapest available and some of my fixtures broke within the first week of moving in.
Also what management will not tell you is that you pay your utilities -gas and water- to a company named EMS which are not very helpfull and their billing does not make sense.
Overall this is the worst place I have ever… See More>

                          So far, so good...

My husband and I just moved here 3 weeks ago and we both like it here. We noted a few things that were not quite right when going over the place after we moved in- minor things, and called maintenance about them. They returned our calls almost immediately, and came over at our convenience to fix the issues. One was simply a closet door that didn't shut quite right, another was a bar in the shower that slipped out of place. They fixed everything I could think of, and even found a few spots in the bathroom grout, between ceramic floor tiles in the corner, that they patched as well. They were alse extremely nice and courteous.
As for things I've heard from people about noise issues..I have lived in MANY apts. in my life, and this is the one with the LEAST noise from other apts. that I've EVER lived in. True, you CAN hear people in the hallway, and it does echo because it is a mostly cement building, but also because of that, we don't hear a THING from the apts. above us-ours is on the first floor. Walls, floors and ceilings are cement. Anyone who complains… See More>

                            NOT WORTH THE RENT

My only suggestion is stay clear away from this place. The walls are paper thin, the whole building echoes with noise, the mail is a nightmare...and someone tried to burn the building down. The fire department has been here twice in three months. The building is constructed with the cheapest materials, and Tower Devlopment lies to get you to sign a lease. Learn from my mistakes, find somewhere else to live and be happy.
