The balcony for each apartment is very nice, as are the mostly glass walls looking outward, and up until this year, the rent price being asked was reasonable for what you get. Location is fantastic, right next to an orange stop on the Broad St line. The building is very old, and has the expected problems that go along with that. Power has gone out for a significant amount of time (over 24 hours) at least once a year since we have been here, usually twice a year. Emergency lights have been non existent until recently, and still do not always operate correctly. One lone elevator in the building that is extremely slow, and often in use by maintenance. Management, with Susan being the sole exception, is HORRENDOUS. They choose to treat their tenants as prisoners rather than customers, and they really do not seem to care about anything the tenants have to say. Response time to maintenance requests or anything else is extremely slow (we have had broken kitchen tiles for around two years now). Another obvious sign of the poor management is the non stop constant turnover of the maintenance staff. It turns over 2-3 times a year, with new faces constantly popping up. Our rent was raised over 11% this year, when inquiring about this increase, after multiple attempts to get an answer, I finally received an email around 5PM on the day of our deadline to make a decision. We are stuck here for one more year, the first three years with Susan at the helm things were nowhere near as bad as they have been the past year or so. They recently brought in an outside consultant who seems to be running things, but you never really know what is going on, because they never tell the tenants anything. I would highly highly recommend talking to tenants in the building prior to any decision made to move in. Stay away.
