Resident 2013

7/29/2013

This place is a nightmare ran by incompetent students. There are way better places to live on campus that are just as safe of a location. For example, on my move in day (which cuts too close to the day classes start) they didn't even clean the place. The toilet seat had mold on it and there were rat traps everywhere. They didn't repaint the walls and it smelled. The refrigerator had spills in it. What is HILARIOUS is that I was one of the tenants who paid 700 a month to live in a disgusting little room. Also, the alarm system in my apartment has been broken since I moved in and even when I called the problem wasn't fixed properly. OH and the door that you need to "buzz" into, can come open without the key. It drives my parents insane personally, I mean what are we even paying for? There is an apartment only a few doors down that former criminals live in (one solicited my number and told me he lived down the street from me) You can find a more reasonable price in a cleaner, more friendly atmosphere. I am a senior, who graduates in August and works at Temple. I am in the process of trying to finish my senior thesis paper which is due on move out day -- July 31st. I asked them if I don't finish moving out by the time their office closes at 5pm if I could turn in the key the next morning. NO, absolutely not AND they'll charge me a full month's rent if I turn it in the next morning. Oh, and then they will read off the fair housing act to you. I am sure they wont be around for much longer since competition is cropping up all around campus. Students will continue to avoid this place because only new students seem to live here. Oxford village has a horrible reputation around campus and the only reason I settled in there was because during a full time co-op I had no time to gather roommates and this place lets you settle in without any. The only good thing going for the place is the maintenance guy. BETTER OPTIONS: Go to Kardon (I've lived there too and they don't make you have a roommate when you sign up) or go to University Village (same deal) also, if you look along 15th street you'll see brand new student housing that has gone up in recent years. Just do whatever you can to avoid this place. You can't even sublet without an insane charge. Deal with different property management somewhere else (I've also lived on carlisle and rented from smaller property manager) that location was more convenient and cheaper, cleaner, bigger and more secure.
