Resident 2021

5/17/2021

My experience has been terrible. During my move-in day I left my apartment unlocked for 5 minutes and left my purse in the apartment and one of the PMC employees entered my apartment with out my approval, went into my purse, found my wallet and took my cash out of the wallet. I called the police and the Property manager. The Manager was no help. I know it was one of the PMC employees because when I was heading out to let my movers in a employee asked me what unit I was moving into. He knew I would be busy with my movers and knew it was a good time to go into my wallet. The property manager did not make me feel any better and did offer any resolution. I do not recommend PMC or this building.

People need to get a grip!

I moved in here two years ago and I agree the construction is a pain at times, but they are doing beauitful renovations to the building. I would rather live in a building that is being taken care of and well maintained, than a building that is rundown. It was one of the nices building in Rittenhouse Square, before the construciton started, and it will be even better once they are finished!

      Rent here if you like...

RENT HERE IF YOU LIKE: Construction noise that starts at 7am every week day. You'll love the consecutive internal and external renovations underway! A "temporary" entrance (going on about a year now) that's draped in plastic tarps and illuminated by paint lights. Enjoy the looks on the faces of your guests when they hear the beats coming from the security person's boom-box and enjoy the smells of the take-out food they're eating. Eavesdropping! Cell phone and walkie-talkie conversations of the help can be heard with little effort from the halls and lobby; you won't even have to leave your apartment. Security personnel outsourced from a company, rather than employees of the building, with little to no background checks. The constant turnover and unfamiliar faces will make you appreciative of that deadbolt lock on your door! Scaffolding every where! Jockeying for an unloading spot. Let your competitive spirit soar as you challenge the cab drivers in front of the Dorchester for a 20 minute space to load/unload. Uncle Fester. He's the building manager! Being untroubled by status updates and progress reports of ongoing construction! Water shut-offs. Not having to use your alarm clock. Don't worry about getting to work on time. Unexpected fire alarms assure your… See More>

        Awful

When I first moved here a year ago I thought that the apartment and the building seemed great. The manager assured me that there were no problems, no mice, no nothing bad. Now, the building is constantly under construction and there is a mouse in my apartment (not on a low floor. There are fire alarms at least once a month at 4am, 6am, midnight etc. It is completely disruptive. Also, the water is shut off for hours at least once a month due to an "emergency." The laundry machines are also not good quality. I have to go to other floors to dry my clothes or spend 3 hours and $5 to dry my laundry. The building manager is AWFUL. You will regret having to deal with him. Also, they say that there is a "free coffee machine", however, it is constantly broken and only on during hours when the building manager is here (not early in the morning or on weekends). If you don't mind things constantly being under construction and unreliable, then take a risk here. But if you are considering renting here, you should know that… See More>

The worst managed building in Center City

This is by far the most poorly managed building in which I have ever lived. There is constant construction, which is noisy and places the residents at risk. Not only are maintenance and construction personnel constantly revolving through the building, but noxious fumes often permeate the upper floors to the building. The rent is outrageously high, considering the lack of amenities, which only include electricity, water, and one (1) cable box. Laundry cards are required for the units placed on each floor. Additionally, the appliances are old and the air conditioning breaks often. Water outages and electrical outages are constant, the insulation between the walls thin enough to each loud conversations and dog barking, and only a third of the apartments have a view of the park. Aside from the maintenance staff and the day-time front desk concierge, the staff is unspeakably rude. Dealing with the building manager, [NAME], is impossible. The members of the Sentinel group, which manage the building, are slightly more professional, but clearly have no interest in keeping tenant's happy. I would seriously urge anyone considering renting from 222 West Rittenhouse to look elsewhere. It has been a two-year nightmare.

Not as bad as other reviews lead you to think

My brother rented here and I was staying with him when the transformer was hit. Yes, the power was out for 10 days. BUT he was put up at the Rittenhouse Hotel at no additional cost to him. It was a little inconvenient but 222 arranged for everything and even paid him for some of the food that was in the frig. Also, I do not think that the blown transformer repair/replacement can necessarily be blamed on the building. I think that it was PECO that caused the delays. Yeah, there is construction going on, but that is what happens when apartments renovate. If they didn't renovate then people would complain that they are dated and inferior. Some of the halls do have plastic sheeting on the floor in the areas where upgrading is taking place. As far as construction noise he and I didn't hear very much as they seem to try to limit the work to areas where units are empty. It is not as modern as say Parc Rittenhouse, but then the units are bigger and less expensive especially when you consider that the utilities are included and… See More>

I WOULD LIVE HERE AGAIN DESPITE ISSUES

Facilities here are decent and location great - and the staff is nice and responsive. A few negatives: To start off, a big part of the building is undergoing construction. While I lived there we had several blackouts, the longest of which lasted 10 days. No other buildings in the area had this problem, as apparently 222 had a faulty transformer. The staff is nice and responsive, but lack organization in addressing problems before and when they arise. The hallways and trash chute areas are not cleaned very often, and the management does not seem to pay attention to these kinds of things.

                NEVER MOVE HERE

THIS IS PROBABLY THE WORST MANAGED BUILDING IN ALL OF CENTER CITY. IT HAS A DOORMAN, A BASEMENT GYM, AND THE LOCATION IS GREAT. SO IN THEORY A GOOD OPTION. HOWEVER, THE RENT IS THE SAME AS MUCH BETTER RUN BUILDINGS NEARBY LIKE THE DORCHESTER AND WANAMAKER HOUSE, EACH OF WHICH HAS MORE AMENITIES LIKE A ROOFTOP POOL AND UNDERGROUND PARKING. BUT BY FAR THE BIGGEST SORE POINT IS THE PEOPLE WHO RUN THE BUILDING. AS STATED IN OTHER REVIEWS, ALL THE PROBLEMS HERE CENTER AROUND THE MANAGER -----. HE IS APOLOGETIC ABOUT EVERYTHING, BUT IS AS HOPELESS AS THE GUY IN THE APPLE COMMERCIALS WHO PLAYS "PC GUY". HE ACTUALLY ------------------- TOO! WHEN WE LIVED THERE, MY WIFE WOULD HAVE TO LET HIM KNOW SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE ANYTHING WAS TAKEN CARE OF. THE ELEVATORS WERE CONSTANTLY OUT OF ORDER AND HAD A LOT OF DAMAGE INSIDE. AND WHILE WE LIVED THERE WE HAD A POWER OUTAGE THAT LASTED 10 DAYS - TELL ME OF ANY BUILDING WHERE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM TAKES THAT LONG TO FIX. THE ENTIRE BUILDING HAD TO BE VACATED, AND WE LOST EVERYTHING WE HAD IN OUR FREEZER. THE FRONT DESK PEOPLE ARE CONSTANTLY EATING AT THEIR… See More>

I've lived in a few buildings in town, and this one is not the best, but not the worst either.

                    Bi-weekly Fire Alarms, Bad Management.

If you need to be forced to excercise at night or very early in the morning, this is the apartment you should move in. I've been living here for about 2 months, I experienced 5 false fire alarm. 6:30am on a Saturday morning, 2:30am on a Wednesday morning.... Front desk people couldn't even turn off the alarm 45 mins after fire fighters already examined and left. They don't know how to reset the electric system, so we end up using stairs on the way back. This is a 27-story-building! I do not feel safe here. Some people might not even try to get out even when we do have a real fire. Another major thing is that "Korman Community" sold this building to a different management company with only 1-day notice to the residents. August 31, they left a letter under the door, saying "Thank you for living here! Bye!", the new management gave us a letter that basically says, " If you don't come to the office by the end of this month and extend the lease, you cannot keep living here." They did offer some discount, which is almost $2000 per month for the existing residents. I extended the lease… See More>
