Riverwest - decent for the money, but some serious problems...
The apartment is located in a extremely convenient location, which is clearly its best asset. It is a couple blocks from Trader Joe's and a short walk to UPenn and Rittenhouse. The problems (and these have been mentioned already in other reviews) are a few - particularly the heating and the street noise. I am a sensitive sleeper, but many of the other residents have trouble as well. The intense heat in the late fall, winter, and through the early spring is regulated horribly. The only options to deal with it are to leave your windows open overnight and expose yourself to the city noise (e.g. the fire station at the rear of the building) or to use your air conditioners (yes, in the middle of the winter). We have all complained but nothing is ever done about it even though it would seem cost-effective to address (utilities are included in the rent, which is only slightly inflated). My bigger complaint from the heating is the accompanying noise of the heater, which creates a very, very loud banging (think hammer against a steel object), which tends to wake me up in the morning at least a few times a week. I would gladly not heat my apartment all winter if it could possibly turned off (I am on a high enough floor that it would warm enough anyway), but there are no individual controls in the apartments. Anyways, something to think about if you are sensitive to noise and heat. Otherwise the building if fine enough for the money depending on the unit.Share This Review
