RUDE AND Racist Property Manager

I am a nurse. I never lease an apartment from the edge, my daughter applied a year ago and was told she didnt qualify. However I was called by a collection company telling i owe 800 dollars that i am totally anaware of. I called the office 2 times and was hang up on by the said white Manger who was very rude. I drove to thd office to get some answers and was told to call the collection company and leave or he will call the police. I am trying to find the person above him. This is not ok. The lease he could do is sit and discuss the way forward. I

If you value your peace and sanity at all, do not live here,

My first night at The Edge, I cried profusely. When you book a tour at The Edge, the show you a beautiful display room with high ceilings, and all the amenities on the first floor, so that when you are moving in, you expect to be residing somewhere livable for the next year. But you're wrong. For the next year you will see mice scurry, place multiple maintenance requests a week, and question why you made such a horrible decision. Please choose better for yourself. Anywhere but here.

      The Renovated Units Look Amazing

Over the past year, this place has really become absolutely amazing. They also just started renovating the units and the new units look fantastic. I can't wait until the entire building is done. It's going to be great.

        Wonderful place to live

Wonderful place to live and wonderful staff. Rodger was so helpful and was really the deciding factor when signing our lease. Great price and everything is included so you don’t have to worry about bills.

          Love the renovations!

I would recommend The Edge apartment community. I have seen the new renovation plans in the lobby, and they are looking great! I'm excited to see the new units they will be offering soon and would love to live at The Edge. The staff is friendly, and the new community kitchen has everything you need to make an awesome friendsgiving meal or something like that.

I'm currently residing here at the Edge Student Village. My time here has been nothing but consistent disappointment in every way possible. Moving here in late August I was excited to finally be moving into my, "Penthouse" studio apartment. But what followed was nothing compared to what was advertised. To start off, on move in day I decided to check my room out before beginning moving in any of my things. When I arrived I was met by an, "RA", who handed me my key card as I signed over what felt like a contract to 12 months of confinement to hell. When I got to my room I opened the door and walked into a room left in shambles... we were told our rooms were "deep" cleaned prior to our arrival, but instead there was layer of filth/hair/dust throughout the entire room, including the bathroom. The previous tenant must've left in a hurry, and I was very unhappy to know that nobody had been in that room since. I would've thought sanitary/cleanliness would be a number one concern especially during a pandemic, but according to the Edge it was not. The "upgraded furniture package" they speak of is poorly… See More>

I would rather be homeless then live here I lived here from September 2019 until September 2020 and it was an experience I don’t even think therapy will help. Within the first three days of my lease I did laundry both me and my roommate I lived in a Junior suite on the 11th floor and every single thing that was in the washer and dryer was taken of mine and my roommates. When we went down to security to ask them if they could look at the cameras and see if it was just a simple mix up the security camera person said that they didn’t have cameras that could access that room but when we went back up we could see that there are cameras up to the door frame of the laundry room everywhere you look in the hallways there’s always a camera they just want to be lazy and didn’t want to help us get our stuff back. I lived there during the pandemic when the pandemic first started and during the whole shut down were you couldn’t go anywhere and you were supposed to be given assistance if you couldn’t make rent. I was under… See More>

The Edge is an overpriced prison. When everyone told me not to lease there, I ignored them because I needed housing ASAP due to transferring late. However, I wish I listened - my studio apartment, which costed $1200 a month, was a dark, foul, disgusting shoe box. Not only are the hallways dark and ominous, but there is an apparent antisocial atmosphere that makes it nearly impossible to socialize or make friends. ALSO, can't forget the countless times the hot water wouldn't work, no water at all, emergency drills, and false fire alarms. I could not stand it there... everything made me feel miserable and isolated. I would spend as much time as I possibly could outside of my room so that I didn't have to bask in the misery that place offers. DO NOT waste your money with this apartment, please try to get a room at Vantage or The View... anywhere else, it doesn't matter - as long as it isn't The Edge. I am so happy I will never have to set foot in that building ever again.

Don't do it. Just don't live here. Here's a "short" list of what didn't work (more than once) since moving in: .Internet .Ethernet .Hot water .Elevators .Trash Chute .Hallway lights .Laundry machines .Heating/AC unit .Building key card The building staff are useless , take forever to reply, and show up whenever they want (they'll come into your room whether your asleep, in class, etc..) and don't actually resolve any of the issues. The walls are paper thin so expect to hear everyone in the building at night. Like mice and fruit flies? The edge has those too!

I'm not even sure where to start with this one. Out of all my regrets in my freshman year of college, living in this building is definitely up there. There are so many problems from maintanance, staff, tenants I'm not even sure if I can even list them all out. My biggest complaint is the mailroom and the terrible staff that works there. My mail/packages have gotten lost on so many occasions which forced me to contact places such as Amazon and report my package missing even though it was delivered to the building. The worst part is, the lost packages started to surface in the mailroom days before I moved out which is proof that they were there the whole time but the staff just can't do anything right. Not only that, but one "lost" package became ready for pickup this past Tuesday when I moved out on Monday and I don't live in the state of PA so it's not like I can simply drive back to get a package that I don't even need or want anymore. Aside from the mail, the tenants are annoying, loud and some genius caused the elavators to shut down for half… See More>

Please do better, Temple. I understand that there are a lot of students to keep track of during move out season, but this is a new level of garbage (literally, I have attached what my hall looked like on move out day. Seriously gross). Students should not have to live in this filth !!!!

DO NOT LIVE HERE. The building was basically forced to be completed way too early so that means the walls are paper thin and you basically have zero privacy from your neighbors. You can literally hear EVERYTHING from next door. Also, the building is extremely dusty and there is a rodent infestation. Every floor has rodents so if you choose to live here, heed my words, you will purchase mouse traps every month. Don't listen to the 5 star ratings some 'residents' have written, they were probably paid off

My experience here hasn't been nearly as bad as others' you can read about on Google Reviews, but it hasn't been great either. As a transfer student, this was the only option for on-campus housing I was given from Temple. I moved in August 2017, and months prior to move-in their website proudly displayed (and pictured) cool amenities, one of which was free tanning booths. Cool, right? On move in day, we all arrive to a lobby which is torn apart and non-existent (quite literally we were walking through a concrete tunnel for 2 weeks until the renovation was done) and when renovations were done, of course there was no more free tanning, or tanning at all. The website also advertised a frozen yogurt place directly under our building and of course, I pull up to the building at move-in and it looks like its been out of business for months. The lobby and offices are clean and modern looking, more so than any other part of the building unless you pay a crazy amount of money to get a suite on the upper floors (which cost, monthly, twice what you could get a decent full apartment for). The hallways… See More>

Do your self a favor and never live here. This place sucks and pretty much all of the staff are unhelpful. When coming to the edge for move in so many things were wrong with the room including super disgusting and stained carpets. I've been living there for a semester and will never be in my bare feet because the floors are so gross. A lot of things were broken in my room and we were told that it was because other rooms were renovated so we weren't a priority. They advertise a two story gym, but don't be fooled because all of the equipment is either in horrible condition or completely broken. This place is trash and mantience sucks. There are three elevators and during finals season which is super busy two of the elevators were broken for like three weeks. Don't spend money living here you will regret it.

My contract (12 months) ended at the end of July, 2017. Regarding the policy, I supposed to have my deposit ($850.00) and overpayment ($275.000) 45 days after August, 1st 2017. They returned my deposit on September 27, still hold my overpayment. The wall was damaged before the day I moved in ( I did check it on the checklist) but they deducted $55.00 from my account. I did send them email about this illogical decision, and said I am willingly to bring the copy of checklist to compare with the original one the Edge has; However, they did not answer my email. The late fee will be added to your monthly payment if you dont pay your rental before the third day each month. However, the Edge has the right to hold your money more than 60 days without punishment. Is it acceptable?

Terrible terrible terrible. Do NOT rent here. Move in day was 2 hours in line just waiting to get a key. Rooms are super small and poorly maintained. The room I saw when we toured looked nothing like the room we actually rented. Cable that was included in the rent didnt work the entire time I lived there, free Wifi? Not in this lifetime. I constantly had to leave and go to campus to use the internet. Gym equipment is broken constantly and no matter how many times you go to the front desk to report it .. never got fixed I was there for 9 months and 2 treadmills were broken the entire time. Management is terrible. It's impossible to reach the main manager by phone so you have to leave a voicemail which in my cases were never returned. Send an email and no response.. send a follow up email a week later and then finally 2 days later a response. Just a heads up, anyone looking for student housing should NOT look at the Edge. They will lure you in with their low prices, and they will only show you the upgraded, clean rooms that staff members receive, but what they won't show you is how awful the place really is. In reality, the place is a filthy dump. The hallways are constantly lined with trash and are filthy, the public bathrooms are cleaned once a semester (maybe), and the lounges are NEVER cleaned and people throw parties in them weekly. Also, urinating and vomiting in the lounges is the norm and management refuses to clean it up. The complex itself is in disrepair and in desperate need of some upgrades. The laundry machines WILL tear your clothes apart. The walls are paper thin, to the point where you can hear your neighbor sneeze or cough and it feels like they are sitting right beside you. Also, does your apartment need some maintenance repairs? Good luck, you aren't ever getting anything fixed. On top of all of that, management is awful. They overbook the apartments, so that on move-in day there is a high chance that you won't even get a room and… See More>

The staff is never available when you call. This is by far the worst room I have ever had. You can't call it an apartment because it's too small. I have to share a small, and I mean small room with a student. It's smaller then a studio apartment. The price is entirely over priced. The hallways are filthy, the entertainment rooms are filthy. And I dear not discuss housekeeping. The rooms are entirely too small for one person, let alone two. The trash rooms are just nasty. I am soooooo sorry I moved in here. We won't even go into the people they pair you up with. It's a real ----ed up situation. I can't wait to leave. If it weren't for the year lease, and my credit, I would of beeeeen left. :-( P.S. another sad tenant.

I felt the experience would be the same the next year but it was not! It was the most horrible decision I have ever made in my life! The pay is terribly high for a small room and what barely is a kitchen. Even though some rooms have private bathroom, it really is not worth it. I never received the couch I was supposed to receive in the beginning of my lease. The workers rotate frequently, so agreements are not definite. The accountant and the manager are -------s. You have to pay twice to defer payment for a year lease and when you try to work out payments with the manger, he still threatens to sue his residents everytime to scare his residences. I heard that he even put a restraining order on one of the residence that lived there. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Look the other way PLEASE

I am completely and utterly disappointed with the business practices at The Edge. They will take advantage of potential residents. I warn all inquiring students to be skeptical while looking into living there. The lease policies are developed to take as much money from you as possible. Not to mention, it is already completely over priced. I will say it was my fault for signing a lease agreement to reserve a room for the upcoming school year, but when I called 20 minutes after signing, they insisted that my lease was already processed and that I d have to pay a fee of $405 to get out of it. That is about half my bank account; it s a robbery. They are fully prepared to take advantage of any potential residents. Do not live at the edge unless you enjoy unethical business practices, outrageous monthly payments, and subpar living.

The Edge at Avenue North Review Background info on reviewer: My girlfriend and I (both Temple students) moved into this complex Jan. 10, 2012 and stayed until July 31, 2012. We moved here because it was within walking distance to campus, had a computer lounge area with free printing, and a security desk (much needed for North Philly). And we could live together like adults. Parking: The Edge offered some parking passes, but they're expensive. I have my own car, and it would've been nice to keep it in the city, but we're poor college students so it wasn't an option for us. Bicycles: CANNOT keep a bike in your own room that you pay for - must pay $75 to keep it in bicycland - a cozy, climate controlled room where the bikes can mingle with one another so they'll never get lonely.
