Resident 2019

7/2/2019

Overall, I think Coda on Centre is a great building and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great apartment building. Some positives and negatives: Positives: - Very friendly and available staff. It's easy to stop down with any concerns or questions and get a swift and cheerful answer. - The fitness center is well-equipped and they have added many machines over the first year of occupancy. - The rooms are generally quite nice and are constructed with good materials. - There are very few insects or spiders. - The trash rooms are clean and don't smell bad. - It is generally a quiet building. - The thermostat controls work great, and you can have heat or AC anytime you want. This is somewhat in contrast to some buildings where the AC must be turned on for the entire building before you can use AC, or where heat must be turned on for the entire building. - Due to the friendly staff and good building, Coda is a non-stressful living situation. Most issues are handled relatively quickly, so there's no need to wrestle with management for days over small things like I know there is at some buildings. Negatives: - The countertops may look nice, but they absorb anything they contact. Water will turn them temporarily darker, then evaporate out, but most other substances will permanently or semi-permanently stain the countertop darker. This includes soap, so you must be very careful with your countertops to avoid stains. The countertops also hide most grime. - Some appliances have odd issues, which maintenance doesn't always know how to fix. - If your apartment overlooks the courtyard, you will hear people talking and playing games, as well as loud music when Coda holds events outside in the courtyard. In the summer, these have occurred on a weekly basis with loud, booming music. - They only hold packages for 4 days, so you must be sure to get them promptly. - The most important things, like late rent, are communicated only by putting a letter under the door, while the less important things, like upcoming parties, are communicated by email. - Sometimes there is confusion of computer systems or staff that make things work incorrectly. Although the negatives are discussed more in depth than the positives, I think the positives greatly outweigh the negatives and would rent an apartment in Coda again, sight unseen if necessary.
