Pros and Cons

Pros - The apartment is beautiful, the view is amazing, the manager (Kathy) is always very helpful. I used the party room once and it worked out great for a party with my colleagues. The pool is nice but a little ridiculous that you can't bring any drinks down when it's 95 degrees out. It's quiet. I've never once heard any of my neighbors through the walls or floor. Richie is awesome. If you live there, you know who Richie is. Cons - The air conditioner. On hot days you can set the temp to 65 degrees but the AC will just run continuously and never get below 75 but your bathroom will be approximately 35 degrees. Laundry. Only 1 washer/dryer per floor for 8 units. Not only that, but you have to use very small loads in the dryer or they don't dry completely. On top of that they raised the price to $1.25 a load. The maintenance man (not George) is a jerk-off. The water. Multiple times the water was turned off for hours at a time, once at 7 am when everyone in the building was trying to… See More>

I have lived in this building for a few years now. I can honestly say that it is very very clean and for the most part very secure. There is a very nice part room that can be used. But yes, it does have some issues that I find to be very aggravating.
There is only one coin-op washer and dryer per floor. 8 floors = 8 washers for over 80 units. The kitchens have been remodeled, but the apliances are low quality. The maintnance man is anything but pleasant, your basicaly on your own if something goes wrong, You hate to have to request him to actualy fix something for you. The windows are cheap as well, they leak water and the cold air blows through them ice builds up on them in the winter time. Did I mention the

      Biggest Negative

I didn´t live there but the place is very nice, with the exception of their managment. The managment company, McKinney, is very very inconsiderate and not the least bit understanding or helpful. If you have any problems, esp. financially, don´t look for them go give you any break. If you do, you´ll be dissapointed.

Good luck and I hope you do find an apartment, just not a McKinney apartment.

        Great location

I have enjoyed living at Grandview Pointe Apartments for over three years. The location is great and I can go any direction in about the same amount of time. This does not limit my access to shopping and businesses in the Pittsburgh area.

I love my two bedroom two bathroom apartment. The apartment is large and bright and I also enjoy my balcony.

The building is always clean and well maintained and response to my request for maintenance is always done in a timely manner.

When I have issues about the valet parking people, the staff at Grandview Pointe does their best to help.

Guest parking is limited at Grandview Pointe but this was explained to me before I moved in to my apartment. The staff would try to accommodate my guests if they had vacant parking spaces available. Anyone familiar with living on Grandview Ave or Mt Washington knows that parking is limited but the location outweighs these issues

The staff at Grandview Pointe has always been helpful and friendly.
Great view, convenient to the city, but poor construction

I lived in a 2 bedroom apartment facing the West End for two years. I had MANY problems with water leakage in my apartment. The majority of them were connected to a poor seal on the balcony above me. Luckily, my furniture was no directly under the leak spots or I would have had serious damage. The other leaks were from the windows. There was NOTHING anyone could do to prevent this. I finally got someone to fix the balcony leak when I wrote a letter on my law firm letterhead using some choice legal language.

Parking was not an easy feat. If you were lucky to get a good indoor parking spot, you were set. However, many of them were just too narrow for anything but a compact car. The outdoor parking was very limited. Only about 8-10 spots for guests and residents without indoor parking. Street parking was available, but was usually taken in the evenings by the valet parkers from Montery Bay restaurant.

As another reviewer stated, the valet parkers from the restaurant drove entirely too fast down the street (all of about 100 feet) and are just… See More>

            Expensive and High Maintenance Apartment.

My apartment may have been the exception but I have had just about everything possible go wrong with the apartment. My ceiling has leaked at least five times, my dishwasher flooded the kitchen, my refrigerator broke down, two closet doors fell off, shower clogged, toilet seat fell off, balcony screen door fell off........ In short, the construction of the building is poor.

An entire floor of apartments share a central coin operated washer/dryer.

If you can manage to afford an apartment with a view the view is spectacular.

The female staff is very nice. The lady who is the manager of the building (Kathy) and the lady who helps maintain the building (Mary) are some of the nicest people I know! They are very friendly and are a treat to be around. The maintenance man on the premises has presented a problem in the way he deals with a tenant.

The Monterey Bay valets are something to look out for. They have been known to drive very fast, recklessly and yell at people in the building.
