6 Amenities to Look for in Luxury Apartments

Staff Writer · Oct 27, 2009

Some of the best perks of renting luxury apartments are the amenities. If you’re going to pay premium rent, you need to find services and features to make the rent worth it. Here are 6 amenities to look for in luxury apartments.

1. Doorman Services

Luxury apartments should have doorman services available to tenants. They will open the main doors for you, which is convenient when you’re having things moved, carrying groceries in, on your cell phone or in a rush. A doorman will deliver packages to you, and help you to your car with an umbrella when it rains. Having a doorman is also valuable for apartment security. They keep an eye out for unwanted guests and others that don’t live in the building. They can also quickly handle and report suspicious activities.

2. Rooftop Swimming Pool

Many apartment complexes offer swimming pools. Some luxury apartments, however, will offer rooftop swimming pools making the pool more appealing for tenants to use. Some pools offer tenants a panoramic view of the city. It’s also closer to the sun than a ground pool, and many tenants will use the pool’s sun deck for health benefits. A typical rooftop swimming pool will also include a sauna.

3. Valet Dry Cleaning Services

If your job or small business keeps you busy, then you’ll enjoy valet dry cleaning services. You can get your suits, shirts or other clothing picked up, dry cleaned and returned to you in a short period of time. This saves you a trip to and from the dry cleaners, which takes one more task off your list. You should plan to include a small tip for the service and factor that in as an additional cost.

4. Business Center and Conference Rooms

This is another convenient benefit to business owners and corporate workers. There are times when you need to work from home or maybe you run a business at home. Having a business center where you live provides a huge benefit, including a place to meet outside of your apartment. This can help to maintain professionalism and you can get a lot done with internet access, a fax machine, copier and other amenities that come with the business center.

5. Top-Notch Fitness Center

Any luxury serviced apartment will have a great fitness center. Tenants don’t want to have to pay for and travel to a local gym if they’re paying so much in rent. Even many non-luxury apartments have small fitness areas. Luxury apartments, though, will have more equipment and high quality options for your workout. It may also have a flat screen television and DVD combo for tenants to use during workouts.

6. Guest Suites

Do you entertain family members and other guests, but wish you had more space in your apartment? Rather than have them rent a hotel room, you can have access to a furnished guest suite. You may have to pay to use it, but it’s more convenient than having your guests stay in a different location.

Not all luxury apartments will carry all of these amenities, and therefore you’ll have to prioritize this list in order to find the right apartment for you. When you’re searching for a place to live, you should factor in the amenities to determine the best option.
