Hosting a Super Bowl Party on a Budget

Hosting a Super Bowl party on a budget is easier than you think. If you know when to rely on friends and where to shop to get the best deals, you can have an incredibly entertaining, affordable party.

Food: Bulk and Pot Luck

The most important part of any party is usually the food, so this is where the majority of your party-planning budget should be spent. Head to warehouse or supply stores and buy in bulk. Meat and sauce for the BBQ are especially great deals in bulk. Anything you don’t use for the party you can freeze for later.

What are some other Super Bowl party ideas to save money when it comes to food? Ask your friends to bring some food and turn it into a pot luck. If you’ve got the main course covered, ask them to bring finger foods (like chips, veggies and cheese) and desserts. You’ll definitely save if you make the party BYOB (bring your own beer), too.

Decorations: Cheap and Simple

Decorations are a part of any truly great football party, but there’s no need to go overboard, especially if you don’t use the decorations too often. Instead of buying decorations with the logo of the team you are rooting for on them, head to the dollar store and buy streamers in the team’s colors.

Ask your friends to bring their own team decorations if they have them, too. Anyone who’s been to a game is bound to have some over-sized foam fingers–and where else can they can good use of them?

To have a truly great Super Bowl party on a budget, your guests are going to have to help out. And if you provide them with a comfortable couch and a big TV, they shouldn’t mind doing their part.
