Picture Frame Room Divider Decorating Ideas

A picture frame room divider is made up of panels with picture frames built in, so that you or guests can focus on the pictures, rather than what’s on the other side of the screen. Don’t waste the opportunity to create your own unique artwork. Learn how to use the picture frames in an effective way. Here are a few ideas of what to include in them:

Black and White Photos

Digital cameras are so affordable and popular, that most of what you see in homes today are prints of colored photos taken from them. Your pictures will stand out and look classy if you take black and white photos. You can hire a professional photographer to take pictures of the entire family, or try taking your own. Children may enjoy dressing up in costumes representing an earlier time period, and you’ll get a kick out of it too. Black and white wedding photos also look great in a picture frame room divider. Pull out all of your photos and see what you can use, or create more memories with new photos.

Colored Photos of Family and Friends

If you don’t have the means for obtaining black and white photos, then it’s fine to include colored photos. Select ones of family and friends that you take or ones that were given to you. Different sizes work best for pictures, so print or have printed photos of all sizes, if possible. Make sure that the photos you choose are ones that you’ll be proud to display for a long time. It takes work to constantly swap out photos. You may also have to glue photos to hold them in place, so you don’t risk putting too much wear and tear on your picture frame room divider.

Postcards

You’re not limited to only using pictures. A fun project for your divider is put together a collage of postcards. Here are some ideas for postcards to choose:

  • Places where you’ve visited
  • Places where you wish to go in the future
  • Postcards you receive from loved ones, friends or others
  • Postcards that are from a country or region where your apartment decorating theme originates

Glue or tape the postcards to card stock or heavy colored paper before inserting them into your picture frame room divider. It will help to center the postcards and give them additional support.

Pressed Flowers

Pressed floral art makes a great addition to a picture frame room divider. You can find ones for sale online, or make your own. Making your own is not too easy, because you need to seal the flowers to protect it from interacting with the environment and getting spoiled. When using pressed flowers, keep the divider away from direct sunlight, because it can cause the pressed flowers to fade. It’s also a good idea to keep it out of areas of your apartment that get especially humid.

A picture frame room divider works well in studio apartments, loft apartments and in large rooms. Use any one of the ideas to make yours stand out.
