Love the River Lofts!

I have lived here for almost 2 years now and I love it here. The rent, as others have mentioned, is above average for the area- however, you have to realize the ammenties that you get for the price. A gym membership alone would cost you additional and the cost of hiring repair men. The gym is almost always empty and you get it "to yourself" a lot, plus its 24/7 so if you have an urge to go to the gym at 10pm on Sunday night-do it. Also, the maintance staff is basically always "on call" for an emergency. If there is a minor issue, they get to it in 24 hrs. The staff goes above and beyond. When I was searching for my apartment, I had a long commute- and the leasing agent at the time (Who is no longer with ashton mill), gave me the numbers to each empty apartment andlet me go in at my leisure to look at them once the office was closed. I did have one issue with my apartment- it was a bit unexpected-- and I had to request to change apartments several times-- which was a bit of a "hunt"- but that is mostly because I am very particular. I ended up in a great apartment that I love more than my first(there are a lot of layout choices-so be sure to ask what other layouts are in your price range-- they might be the same sq. footage but provide a better use of space). Visitors are always impressed by the place-- especially the grand entrance and rec. room that I have used for parties and the outside terrace. It can get a bit buggy at night in the summer- and I left a few citronella candles on the tables one night for other residents to use. They were promptly stolen which aggravated me- but otherwise everyone is really great and nice. The train is a bit loud- but it is on a schedule and tends to come around 7 or 8 pm every night- it only passes for a few minutes and honestly, you get used to it. We are on the "River" side now, so I don't hear it as much as I used to-- but I still hear it for sure. The only other possible complaint is that the pet policy states "small and medium" sized dogs-- under 60 lbs.. which would be a smaller lab, beagles, etc.. however there are people in the building with HUGE dogs that are likely around 100lbs That negative is worth all the positives. Great, friendly neighbors, excellent staff, great look/feel of the apartments, great ammenities, proximity to the bike path- etc. Plus, it is a dog friendly community--which is rare.
