I have lived here nearly a year, and I have had few problems. One problem was noise, and once those people left the noise left also. Each time I called the courtesy officer I was called back and I followed up the next day with the office about the situation. They have always been nice to me, and we chat from time to time. Maintenance does a good job. I asked to have some fans put up and they were up before the day was out. As far as ant problems, I experienced that as well last fall, and it was not the office's fault that the pest control wouldn't make a special trip out to fix it. Their contract is only so binding. I think that the staff does care, and if you're willing to be patient and friendly with them, then they will also be courteous. For those who have been so condescending, I find that it's really unnecessary to insult the staff's intelligence. Yes, the grounds often have cigarette butts and pet droppings laying about, but that isn't the staff's fault. It's hard to enforce fines for littering and not cleaning up after pets because there's no way to patrol the grounds every few minutes to see who isn't being very considerate. I clean up after my dog and I usually pick up trash left outside, minus the butts. It's all a matter of perspective, I guess. It's a bit pricier than another apartments in the area, but since I have an alarm activated and a 24hr courtesy officer, I feel quite safe and I am generally happy with my apartment. It's true that parking is pretty bad. I also live by the pond/lake and spaces fill up after the 5pm everybody-rush-home-from-work. Those of us who work late hours or have meetings at school can't always find a close spot. Still it's not a problem to walk a few extra yards because it's all fairly well lit. There's a light at each door that's always on, and the stairways are lit, so you don't have to worry about standing in the dark to fish for your keys. I'm honestly taken aback by how poorly some people have spoken of Alta Shores. It has its faults, like any other place of business or residence, but I am rather pleased with my decision to live here.
