I liked Canalside when I first moved in, but it has steadily gone downhill in the past year. The staff has changed and are now rude and snobby, with the exception of the property manager, Jacquelyn, who has been helpful and pleasant throughout.
The apartment itself is nice, though we've had multiple issues with the heating and air. They've come and looked at it, but never provided a permanent solution, even after coming out multiple times over the years. One of the maintenance guys said he thought the compressor was too small as all the apartments seem to have the same issue with the heat, but that's an expensive fix I doubt they'll do for a while. I've also had other small issues, such as the sliding closet door falling off. They "fixed" it well enough to stay on till I tried to open it again.
The biggest issue with this place is the price. While I love the location, it is not worth what they're asking. They jack up the rent every time you renew, even if the advertised price on the website is lower. It is absolutely ridiculous and unreasonable.
My fiancé's car was also broken into here once, though I've never seen any homeless people wandering around like others have said.
Also, if you live in the building that faces Jarvis Klapman, be prepared to hear noisy trucks and motorcycles racing at all hours of the day and night. It still wakes us up night, even after almost 3 years of it. The walls in general aren't very soundproof, so you'll hear your neighbors if they're home.
Overall, this would be a decent complex if it wasn't so unbelievably overpriced.
