Resident 2013 - 2016

11/8/2016

First off, the apartments are cheap so you shouldn't have too high of hopes. These apartments are pretty good for college students and low income families. You get what you pay for and as long as your expectations are in line with the price you are paying then you will be fine here. Overall, I would recommend for a single guy. I would suggest paying the extra money for a better place and peace of mind if I were a single female looking at the apartments. Positives: 1. Maintenance- They have been fantastic. I received a new refrigerator and oven when mine had issues. They were timely to fix any leaks or drainage issues. My apartment flooded in 2014 (caused by maintenance in the first place) and they came and put my furniture on blocks, suctioned the water out of the carpets, and installed dehumidifiers and fans. So at least they were nice and responsive to clean up the mess they caused. 2. Affordability- My rent started out at $540 for a 1 bedroom and has only increased $10 per month each year I have renewed. This is not bad at all for the amount of space I have. 3. Condominiums- Since they are condos, some are better than others. This is a positive for me because the gentleman that owns the condo I am renting put time and money into making mine nice. The maintenance man once said "I remember this apartment because it has crown molding." Apparently some apartments don't even have that. Negatives: 1. Bugs, bugs and more bugs: I am a very clean person and like to keep my apartment clean yet there are still bugs in the apartment. Not exaggerating, I would say I see 1 to 2 cockroaches a day on average, which is a lot when you take into account I have been there 4 years. They are especially bad in the kitchen. I have even used the pest service to no avail. I believe that even if you have a clean place they will still make their way in due to the neighbors having a dirty apartment, which is the case for me. From the few times I have seen into my neighbors apartment, it looks like an episode of hoarders. I thought about cancelling my lease when I woke up to a cockroach crawling on my face when I woke up one morning. 2. Below Average Workout Facility: Don't be fooled by the free weights in the photos on the website. They just borrowed those to put them in the picture because they haven't had free weights in the four years I have been there. For the first 2 years they had at least one machine that hadn't worked since I moved in but they finally replaced it with another treadmill in year 3. I would recommend getting a gym membership if you live here because you aren't going to get a good workout from their facility. 3. Sketchy Neighbors: Since this is a low income affordable complex you are obviously going to have some questionable neighbors. I once had a neighbor ask if I had seen who broke into his apartment to steal his TV because he would kill them. This seemed more like a genuine threat of murder more than a "I'm going to get him". At least two of my neighbors smoke marijuana in the breezeway so I have to be quick opening and closing my door to keep the smell out. I had a friend have their car stolen out of the parking light overnight despite the fact that there is a "full-time" security guard. The lady across from my apartment lets her cats roam the property, which isn't allowed, then yells all of their names every night until they all come back. 4. The front office staff are OK: You will never feel completely confident that they know what they are doing. They called me threatening to fine me for smoking and leaving cigarette butts all over the place. The thing is I have never smoked in my life, but that didn't matter because "the cigarette buts were close to my door so I am liable". Of course I didn't pay it and I threw my neighbors that smoke a pack a day under the bus, but maybe they should do some investigating before trying to extort money from their residents. Other than that one random incident, I really don't ever have contact with them. Based on other people's complaints I also have an uneasy feeling that they will try to cheat me out of my deposit despite my condo being in pristine condition.
