Resident 2017 - 2018

12/29/2018

I am giving this review in hopes of giving any prospective tenants a very realistic idea of what to expect at signal view condos. I am a young resident here and I have lived here for nearly 1.5 years. Signal view has beautiful grounds overall, with well kept lawn care and a nice pond with benches, an open field with a basketball court, grills (the kind found during camping), a pretty good playground, and picnic tables. It also recently just got a dog park but its too small in my opinion and there are no obstacles for your furry friend to play on. It has a very nice pool, sometimes crowded with children but thats not a complaint because they deserve to use it too. They have a gym, but its really just three treadmills which is fine for me because Im not looking to get pumped at my apartment complex, I would use a gym membership for that. I like that the complex is slow paced enough that I am very comfortable to go out for a jog around the premises. Also there is a security car that patrols every night, although it would be hard to actually catch someone in a crime it serves as a good deterrent. And although you may not be able to park at your right at your door during peak times, It is very easy to find a spot somewhere in the general vicinity. My girlfriend and friends also live here and we all have 2 bed / 2 bath apartments, but each one has varied greatly. As a new tenant you may get one of the more updated ones like myself (which is nothing special but beyond the general necessities) or you could end up in one with an entirely different layout and style that may not be quite as nice. Yes, there is an occasional bug (roach or box elder bug) but my experience is not as drastic as some of the reviews or stories that have been told. Keep a clean apartment and have the office do their pest control (which is free if requested) and the bugs will likely be at a minimum. The staff and maintenance has always exceeded my expectation, and generally can provide a permanent fix in place of a bandaid. I have been lucky enough to not have any serious issues (i.e water leaks, appliances quit, etc.). My experience has been 4.5 stars, aside from one major issue that may not be the case for everyone. I have a 2nd level apartment and either my downstairs neighbors smoke like freight trains or there is a direct line that they blow into leading to my apartment (joking obviously), but unfortunately my entire apartment smells like an ashtray, which bleeds into my bed, clothes, and everything else. It seems to stick to me so heavily that even my truck has picked up a slight stench because I often leave work clothes or jackets in there. I have never addressed the problem because there is likely nothing that can be done for it, but it drops my overall experience considerably. I'm sure if you're still reading this review then you have probably read that other tenants get the short end of the stick when moving out due to blinds, carpet, etc. I do not have any experience with this yet, but as I said, the staff has always been good to us and I am a clean person (probably more than the average bear) so I'm hoping that this process goes smooth as I move out to start a journey in a new city next month. If I could put this review in one sentence I would say that for the location, amenities, and my specific apartment, I am happy to pay my $810/month.
