When I found Williamsburg Apts, I thought it would be great. We were renting for the summer and had to find the place over the internet (were visiting from ID). The pics of Williamsburg were wonderful and they had a short term lease option. However, when we arrived in TN, the place looked very little like the pictures. Virtually all the equipment in the fitness center was broken, the pool was much smaller, and our apartment was on the upper level even though we had been told it was on the ground level when we paid the deposit. These problems were minor compared to what we experienced once we moved back to ID. The apt manager knew when we were leaving to go back to ID from the beginning of the summer. However, when we were moving out, they suddenly could not inspect our apartment until the week after we were gone. Since we had to be back for school, we could not wait (even though we still had the apt rented for 2 weeks). In retrospect, this was a big mistake on our part. About a month after we moved, we received a final bill. This bill included $190 for carpet cleaning. They said they had to pull the pad because there was pet urine all over the place. WE DID NOT HAVE A PET!!! We were only living in the apt for 2 1/2 months, and most of the time we were not there. The only problem with the carpet was MAYBE a 2' x 2' square right as you enter the door because we didn't have a mat there for the first week, so some dirt was tracked in by shoes. However, I have no doubts that this would have been cleaned by a routine carpet cleaning- definitely not one that costs nearly 200 dollars. Furthermore, since we were only there for a short period of time, we didn't have the water and power transferred to our name. However, we still received a final bill from the power company for $99, Williamsburg gave us a final bill for $124. When I asked about the extra charge, the apt manager could not provide me with a clear explanation. They also would not provide us with a copy of the receipt for the carpet cleaning or tell us the name of the cleaners they use. This is the worst experience I have ever had with a landlord or apartment manager. I would not recommend this facility to anyone. The worst part is that when we moved out, the manager was very friendly and acted like there would be no problems since the person who normally inspects the apts could not do it until we were gone. It was all a facade.
