Resident 2006 - 2008

I lived at Belle Harbour apartments for two years. The apartments are the nicest and the newest on Mud Island. The management is very friendly and responsive to maintenance requests. They want to have happy tenants. All of my work orders were taken care of promptly. The security gate was never broken, making it the most secure place to live on Mud Island. There were apartment break-ins, but probably much less than other apartment complexes in Memphis. There is no where in the greater Memphis area that is immune to break-ins. The tenants are mostly young professionals/college-educated and graduate students. There were more singles than couples. Still, there were many couples and people of all ages. Very few college students lived there. Most of the students were UT and Southern College of Optometry. More students, however, lived in the other large complexes on Mud Island. This is probably because the other complexes have a greater quantity of apartments and their rents are less. Belle Harbour is relatively small compared to the other complexes, which means you probably see your neighbors more often. This was a positive for me. The pool area was always well-kept. Tenants, and guests of tenants, sun-bathed and socialized at the pool. However, because of the security gate, the pool did not attract crowds of non-tenants. Belle Harbour offers the most floor plans of the other complexes, which made it popular for roommates and "live-aloners" alike. I first lived on the second floor. Unfortunately, I heard my upstairs neighbors regularly. Their shower sounded loud in my apartment, and I heard footfalls from both them and their dog. This noise issue was the only major negative I had during my stay. It caused me to move to the third (top) floor. After moving, I did not have any more neighbor noise, and was happy.
