Resident 2010

8/25/2011

We loved living here. The staff was friendly and helpful. They came to fix our air conditioner at any time of the night or day, even on weekends, when we were having problems with it. Unlike most other complexes, the place was actually CLEAN when we moved in and I didn't have to spend our first few days in possession of the apartment cleaning everything. There was a neighborhood atmosphere that we really liked since we have 3 kids. We had to break our lease when my husband got a job in another state and we DID have to pay a hefty sum to break the lease, but that is true of every complex we've ever looked at. Their moveout policy at the time we left was: If you attempt to fix it or buy a replacement on your own, you won't get charged for it. So we bought a replacement for a set of damaged blinds and patched a few small gouges my kids put in the walls and we got our full deposit back! I never heard my neighbors unless they were outside yelling and I found the construction of the buildings to be good, if a little dated. The water pressure in the master bath shower wasn't fabulous but it did the job. The appliances were average and better than I have seen in other complexes in some cases. Overall, no complaints. It was our favorite complex hands down, and we have lived in quite a few over the years. We were sorry that we didn't give them a try a few years earlier and sorry that we had to leave. One of the major downsides was the parking issue. It is fine if you are a resident and you have the sticker on your window but you have to be really careful about your guests. Luckily, we lived near a large block of guest spaces so we didn't have much trouble, we just had to warn our guests to be VERY careful about where they parked. Was it a little shady sometimes, yes... was management getting a cut from the towing company, quite possibly. However, if you are careful then it shouldn't be a problem. Another slight downside is the placement of the washer and dryer in the three bedroom units. They are in an alcove off the kitchen, meaning you have to walk through your kitchen to get to the laundry area. The washer and dryer were consequently pretty loud and interfered with watching TV or relaxing in the main room. If we had stayed longer I would have put up a curtain to help muffle the noise but as it was I just made it a point to do my laundry at times when it wasn't an inconvenience to hear the noise. Overall, I found management to be quite reasonable and fair and also very helpful. I also found that the few minor inconveniences were par for the course of living in ANY apartment complex and would recommend St. Andrews Apartments to anyone.
