Resident ā€¢ 2013

3/19/2014

We moved to Brentwood Station with very high hopes of enjoying where we would live. Our whole experience started out the day we moved in. We got our keys from the office (the girl who gave us the keys didn't even bother to do a walk through with us and kept talking about how she couldn't wait to get off early). When we walked into our townhouse, it was dirty, unfinished and needed severe repairs. The thresholds going into both the kitchen and the downstairs restroom were completely busted and not attached to the floor, there was black dog hair all over the upstairs carpet (the downstairs carpet had been replaced, and it didn't even remotely match the carpet going up the stairs and in the upper part of the townhouse), there were scuffs and dirt marks all along the hallway going up the stairs, dog bite marks on the blinds, chunks of dry wall missing from the walls and dog urine stains all over the carpet upstairs. Due to the numerous amount of issues we had, maintenance started working on our requests pretty quickly. However, one day I was approached by a man who lived in the complex when I was walking my dog. He proceeded to tell me that he knew exactly which townhouse we lived in because he had been in our townhouse several times with the maintenance men because they were apparently afraid of our dog... basically the maintenance man was letting another tenant come in our townhouse while he did completed the maintenance requests. The issue with the thresholds in the kitchen and downstairs bathroom that weren't glued down were fixed with glue and huge tubs of paint placed over the thresholds that we were told we needed to leave for a few days so the glue could set. This tenant described where our dog crate was in our living room and several other things we had in our living room. When I brought this to the attention of the property manager, she basically said that she talked to the tenant who claimed to me to have been in our townhouse and he never said he entered our townhouse. How would this tenant have been able to describe where things in our living room were if he hadn't been in? On top of letting someone in our townhouse that wasn't authorized, maintenance would come in our townhouse without any notice while we were gone. It was a very unsettling feeling coming into our "home" knowing that people had been in there while we weren't home, and apparently letting other tenants in with them. The property manager ended up only charging us half of the pet fee ($400 reduced to $200) due to all of the issues. After eight weeks of the property manager refusing to replace the disgusting upstairs carpet that was covered in dog hair and urine stains on top of neglecting to fix most of our other issues, the property manager's supervisor finally let us out of our lease. The pet fee ($200) was non-refundable even though we only lived there for two months with no damage from our pet. So, after paying to move in to Brentwood Station including renting a truck, hiring movers, paying deposits etc, we had to pay to move once again because we couldn't take it anymore. Living in Brentwood Station was a nightmare and I would never recommend this property to anyone. The ladies that work in the office are completely incompetent and will manipulate stories to make themselves look better, such as the case with the maintenance man letting tenants into our townhouse when we weren't there. We later learned from the property manager's boss that the maintenance man was fired. After we moved out, the property manager advised me that she didn't plan on replacing the nasty carpet even for the next tenant. Sadly, most of the maintenance issues that were there the day we moved in were still there the day we moved out because the maintenance is severely lacking. If you enjoy your privacy and don't want to live in a townhouse that is run down with numerous maintenance issues from the start, I would not recommend Brentwood Station. Please see the attached pictures to put our horror story with living here in better perspective. Unfortunately this website will only allow six pictures to be posted, because I have a lot more just for documentation reasons.
