Resident 2005 - 2008

I lived here in a 3 bedroom with my mother and brother for 3 years. When we moved in everything was great. No complaints about the apartments themselves, we did have a big ant problem that we told the office about and they said they would send soembody over. They never did. Eventually we had to buy our own ant spray and traps and it only limited the problem, never eliminated. Another thing was one day my brother woke up and found that his car had been broken into. They had broken the back window and opened the trunk through the glovebox and they stole his backpack. We went to tell management in case they had been having problems and the lady got a huge attitude and said that it isnt her fault and we should report it to the police. I told her we did and we werent blaming her that we just wanted her to be aware of what happened in case it became and issue. She said "it looks like its only an issue for you". That was rude. The worst part came when we tried to move out, a few reasons were behind this, I had gotten a job on the other side of Arlington and we had been having issues with the downstairs neighbors. It was a -------- couple with 2 kids and their elderly mother I suppose. One day my sister came to visit and brought her dog (a small chiuaua), she was walking the dog on a thin leash outside for potty time and the elderly lady came walking by and I guess she didnt realize that the dog was there on a leash and when she looked down she got scared and kicked the dog. The dog wasnt doing anything but sniffing around but when the lady kicked her, she barked at the lady and my sister told the lady to get away from the dog. The lady went inside, yelling things in spanish at my sister. Well the next day the office manager came and said that the people claimed that my sisters dog was not on a leash and ran up and bit the old lady. I told them what happened and they acted like they didnt believe me and said that my sister could no longer bring her dogs to the complex or she would call animal control. Because of this incident we had issues with these people from then on so we decided that we should just move. We gave our notice and started moving out. We moved out on a saturday and I asked one girl there if we could return the keys the following wednesday because I had work and classes and I couldn't make it to the office before they close. She agreed that wednesday was fine and when I went to take them the manager said she would have to charge me $100 because they had to replace the locks because I had 48hrs to return the keys and it was on my lease. I told her that I had talked to the other agent and that if there was a problem how come nobody called me then to tell me and she said "well you have a copy of the lease its up to you to read it" I told her to take it from our deposit and she said we weren't getting any of the deposit back either becasue they had to replace the carpet. I asked why and she said that she was informed that we had "unauthorized pets" living in the apartment and that we did not have a pet deposit to cover it so she was keeping our rent deposit. I explained that we did not own pets and that my sister visited every now and then with her dog but the dog hadn't been at the apartment for the last 4 months since they said she couldn't. She said the carpets were filthy and stained, which they wern't at all, my sisters dog was potty trained. I asked how come nobody had said anyting about this before and she said she tried to contact us but couldn't reach us. Which was a lie, she had all 3 of our cell and work numbers yet she couldn't reach any of us. She was completely rude and disrespectful. Moving out was the worst part of this whole ordeal, she just wanted to keep my money and make me pay extra fees. Parking was awful too, sometimes I had to park across the complex and walk through the apartments to my place. Some of the staff was great but the manager lady was awfully rude and had a big attitude. I sincerely hope she is not there anymore but if she is, then God help you all that already live there. The apartments were great it was just the environment that was bad.
