Resident 2004 - 2009

1/20/2009

Ever since previous mgr Vickii Bell was fired for her kind-heartedness toward tenants, the new mgmt here really bites. This office crew is never out of the office except to show an apt., eat lunch, or go home. Only one employee within the office seems sincerely friendly, and she's the one who gets stuck dealing with people unless it's something only the mgr can deal with. Not the kind of customer service that prospective tenants would appreciate if they knew beforehand. There's no after-hours security, no handicapped parking follow-up, little is done about complex-wide problems other than misspelled/poor-English letters slid THROUGH the poorly-insulated apt. doors instead of using the bulldog clips above each door - a MAJOR breach of privacy. My mother (78 yrs old) had a handicap parking sign put up when Vickii was here, then requested another when another handicapped driver moved in and used hers; no problem or hassle, it was put up. The new mgmt came in and removed the 2nd sign after several months cos they "didn't know why it was there!" After 2 requests to return it and no response, my mother gave up and tries hobbling out to and from the car as best she can instead of right next to the sidewalk. When you make a complaint about noise, kids, etc., you're given vague responses about what will be done about it, or told that there's nothing THEY can do about it - no hope, no reassurance, no comfort. My dishwasher is a great dish drainer now cos when I used it to wash dishes in, the door got off-balance and soap/water flooded the floor; it's been fixed twice and goes back to off-balance and I gave up after that. The stove-top vent that's supposed to blow steam up and out blows it backward (DOWN instead of sucking it up) cos "that's how it's supposed to work." They come squirt a few drops in 2-3 rooms for roaches every few months - there's never a roach to be seen, but I was told by the pest guy that there are ants in all of the walls. We know, cos they're EVERYWHERE. Yet they never do maintenance (or initial) treatment for ants, inside or out. The apt. insulation is very poor; cold air pours in through the door locks when it's closed with drafts from it/fireplace/patio doors, fireplaces are cheap/inefficient, patio doors are off-track and difficult to open/close cos track is bent. Our heating and A/C bills are always outrageously above the norm even when trying to maintain low levels of comfort. The grounds look horrible cos the crew that started coming after the new mgmt took over doesn't know how to do yardwork right; they cut the grass way too short and everyone else's grass is still green and nice-looking. Ours is patchy, and looks like dying spinach colors! Dog owners are to scoop their poop but I've only EVER seen ONE OWNER DO IT. There are exposed wires/cables cos those green things that cover them up outside the bldgs are off here and there; safety apparently isn't a factor anymore. Kids (who live here and don't) jump the pool fences to go swimming, as well as non-resident adults! Trash is dumped on the ground below the dumpsters instead of inside and kids jump/destroy the fencing between here and apts next door; they are prime suspects in the many vandalisms of vehicles here. There are vehicles parked that haven't moved in months w/flat tires and/or wrecked and the same with trailers, etc. When Vickii was here, any with expired tags were OUT OF HERE asap; it didn't take patrolling police to red-sticker those vehicles cos the office staff noted them immediately. Trash on the grounds was kept to an absolute minimum cos not only did Vickii deal with it when she made frequent daily rounds, but the maintenance crew was also instructed to do the same. Only 1 previous employee on the maintenance staff is still here; they only do what they're instructed and don't seem to go out of their way any more than the office staff. Too bad, cos they're much friendlier than the office bunch. It would be nice if office employees had to park away from the office instead of the closest possible spaces, even if they're tenant spaces or handicap spaces - the handicap parking space in front of the office is the one most often abused by non-handicap vehicles! We had to sign another lease renewal cos we couldn't find a house to buy before renewal deadline; we'll be out of here by the time it's up, believe me. The apt. rent is reasonable for the space but the service/mgmt here isn't worth it at ANY cost. We have nothing against south-of-the-border mgmt, but it won't be long before the complex is 90% that group, and the favoritism already apparently being shown them will become a serious issue. Unfortunately, the home office isn't any better than the complex office as far as resolving issues of any kind..... End-of-lease can't come soon enough!
