Update: I lived here for one year, and then bought my own property. Everything I said previously still applies, but here are some more additions: 1. Tenants are generally fine, but not particularly interested in getting to know anyone of a different culture/ethnic background. (I repeatedly smiled and said hello to people walking past me, and was greeted with a blank face). 2. Water is shared amongst the entire complex. I use minimal water as a matter of principle. Yet I paid $70/mo because of the water policy. If you live in a two-bedroom place you pay the equivalent of 2.8 people (or some nonsense like that). You should know that before you live here. 3. Maintenance (Dave, in particular) and the office staff were very nice and generally efficient. 4. When I moved out the rent was set to increase by $200 a month for no reason at all. No updates or changes that would justify that increase. For all the rest, read my previous post from when I first moved in.... ____________ I don't understand the bad reviews. It took me a long time to decide on renting here because I kept reading all these bad reviews. To be fair, I have only lived here for one month, but these have been my experiences so far (good and not-so-good): - Clean complex, and the apartment was spanking clean before I moved in. - The staff are really, really nice. I have met about four different people and all have been extremely helpful. I have had questions about cable, my garage, entry keys/cards, and maintenance needs. All my questions were answered and minor issues cleared up very quickly. - You can't really tell from looking, but most tenants seem nice and not shady. - Maintenance has responded within 24-48 hours of my requests. - I feel completely safe here... at least so far. I have no reason not to. - Pool seems clean and all the fitness machines work. - Convenient location. Close to the arboretum, the domain, round rock, and no more than 15 mins to downtown (30 in rush hour traffic). - Valet trash... from my observations, they don't show up every day even though we pay for daily trash pick-up, and weekends are especially iffy. - Gate cards frequently don't work. I went through three before finding one that worked. This meant that if I was out after the gates shut for the night I had to wait for someone else to open them and follow that person in. I've noticed lots of people waving their cards with no response from the gate, so it wasn't just me. - As I said before, clean apartment... also working appliances. But I think it could be updated. It definitely looks like it's been around since the late 80s (which is sad, because it was built in the mid 90s). Overall, this place is fine. It's not amazing and it may not be the nicest complex in Austin, but it has everything I need and the flaws are pretty minimal. I will certainly update this if I ever notice things going downhill, but for now, I totally recommend this complex, especially for someone new to Austin.
