Resident 2004

1/26/2005

I have lived here for only two months and have already been treated horribly - on two separate occasions - by the manager. Last week I was falsely accused of not paying my water bill..she later recanted and said it was a "mistake", but not until after posting a NASTY note on my door. Today I made the mistake of leaving my trash under the stairs an hour later than the valet service pick-up; an honest mistake as it was the first time I put my trash out for pick-up and I was confused as to the time. The manager came BANGING on my door this evening, accusing me of leaving two bags of trash under the stairs; when I calmly tried to tell her that I had NOT put out two bags, she became very beliggerent, practically called me a liar, and told me to remove them immediately or she would fine me. This was done in front of my teenage daughter. I then followed her downstairs and asked her to point out which bags were "mine". She pointed to the one which I had, indeed left (mistakenly, I admit...), and another one which was full of beer cans. I am a 48 year old single mother and business owner; I haven't drank beer in YEARS! I told her that bag was not mine and she stil tried to insist that it was, even though there were several other bags of trash out at the time. I told her she was being extremely rude, and she said "Get used to it!" Geez...whatever happened to common courtesy or giving someone the benefit of the doubt? Whatever happened to asking nicely or giving a gentle first-time "warning" when a rule has been violated? Whatever happened to good old-fashioned customer appreciation? WHY is such rudeness necessary?

The Orion website says they pride themselves on treating tenants like "Preferred Residents", but the way the manager here acts, you'd think I was a junkyard dog. Her behavior was totally uncalled for, even abusive in my opinion.

I was also mis-led into believing (as I was told) that this was a very quiet apartment, which it is NOT. All the manager has to say about my concern is "Well, nobody else in that building complains..." Who needs this?

The owners of these units really should do something about this situation; it's a nice complex but how can you feel good about living here when you're treated like a criminal for even the smallest infraction...or for no reason at ALL?

I have been a renter in Austin for 20 years and have never been treated so poorly.
