Resident ā€¢ 2013

12/9/2013

This is going to be the most honest review I can give. I moved in in March of 2013 because I fell in love with this apartment. It was beautiful! The layout was perfect, the office looked nice, the staff was friendly, and the amenities were good for what I was looking for. I own a business and thought it would be perfect to move here as when I saw the reviews, they were still good. But my problems started the day I signed my lease. They had a temp working that day who didn't know anything about how the company operated. I was misguided into thinking that water was based off of my use only and not allocated, I was led to believe there was no pet rent (if you listen to the hold music, it still advises that there is none which by the way is false advertisement), I was also led to believe that my rent was suppose to be 100$ cheaper than it actually turned out to be. It took 1 hour for me to produce my payments to hold the apartment - in that hour they changed their minds and decided that they were going to charge me more. Since I was unable to get a deposit in immediately (as in the very second that I wanted it), but was on my way to get one based off of what I was told, "I had no ground to argue." per the management. I needed a place to go and the money wasn't an issue so I decided not to pass this opportunity up and put in my deposit. I payed for 2 parking spots because the parking issue was horrendous and I didn't want to suffer or allow my visitors to suffer that. My parking cove was the WORST. But if this was the only issue, who am I to complain right? Wrong, I spent more money on car washes as the pigeons decided to occupy the covers and the sprinklers were so horrible that they just watered the cars, this is why there is no grass in the median. The other issue was people constantly parked in my spot - even after they finally enforced parking passes. It's a waste of money if you ask me, but I guess since the rest of the lot isn't safely lit due to malfunctioning lights or just pure laziness and no replacement bulbs - I would rather have a poor parking spot that costs a ton than feel unsafe walking from the far corner in fear of being robbed. The first 3 months I lived here I was constantly in the office trying to get stuff fixed or corrected. I was always being over charged for something or something was always broken. My A/C did not work and it took almost 3 weeks for them to get in and fix it - it broke 3 more times in my short stay and was broken again when I left. There were rats in the walls, birds living in the dryer vents, and bugs everywhere. In my first 3 months I had to call the cops 7 times. I see some people do not experience this, but you can look up the domestic issues on the websites and see for yourself all of the times the cops get dispatched to this property. I actually documented a lot of these complaints so I had some backing if I ever had to go to court over the issues. I have both picture and video evidence to satisfy those who claim otherwise, my next step was to start a public blog with all of these documentations so others would see how horrible the experience was. Because the management was kind enough to release me without fees, I did not publish the blog publicly. The neighbors would party so loud 2 buildings over that it would shake my walls - I was genuinely shocked that no one else complained. The cars would run through the cove making drug deals. The worst part about this is that the corner apartment drug dealer would use his child as a cover while he slipped drugs to passing cars. It's like a drive through for meth, how awesome right? I remember the night that there were 13 police cars/suvs and 4 k-9 units surrounding the property and immediate area and also on foot looking in windows trying to catch someone. Don't believe me? Just listen to the police scanner next time you stay the night. I remember the night they guy punched his girlfriend in the face. My partner had to help him from his car to the apartment building because he was so drunk he couldn't even stand up.. Next thing you know he is hitting his girlfriend and the cops are there. Mind you, they are screaming about "smoking weed in front of their daughter" so loud the entire complex can hear. I assume this is why he hit her, because how dare her judge his bad habits. My downstairs neighbors place was broken into. The gang of kids thought it was fun to break the sliding glass doors and rob people blind. thankfully her dogs were loud and scared them off - but still, if the management cared enough to run any kind of background on tenants, they would have less issues. I had to call CPS as well as have the sheriffs do a wellness check on the children upstairs because they were screaming so loud it sounded like they were being murdered. Come to find out, the babysitter was sleeping and allowed 3 boys to run amuck in the house. Where was dad? Oh you know, down at the corner pub getting hammered and crying about his ex-wife. I did not need to know the intimate details of another mans martial issues. The walls were so thin it sounded like they would play catch with the refrigerator. This is also the same neighbor who got so drunk he flooded my apartment. I woke up at 3 am to water destroying all of my belongings because he forgot to turn the water off upstairs. I almost called the cops again thinking he had committed suicide. Maintenance took 4 hours to get to the apartment and all that was ever done was a shop vac and a free shrug. I had to shut my business down because of this issue - it's never fun to lose money on top of losing money to people who could care less about what happens to you as long as they are able to get money out of you. There is one neighbor in specific that was a complete nightmare to deal with - you will know her when you encounter her. She patrols the grounds as if she is someone special. She looks like she eats babies for breakfast and is constantly in other peoples faces causing drama. I had to file quite a few complaints against her with the local authorities (with video evidence of her abusive nature) due to her eccentric view on the world. I witnessed her bully an older lady because of the parking issues that the office made. When I went to help the older lady with her spot, offering her one of mine until the office could sort it all out, my life was threatened. No one should ever have to deal with this woman and honestly I am unsure why she isn't behind padded walls in a special huggy bear jacket. The Manager, although finally agreed to release me early, was hardly ever present when a problem arose. She ducked out quickly knowing that an issue had to be dealt with passing it off to one of the other employees. The only good part about this entire experience is that instead of having to pay for a lawyer and court fees, the manager was reasonable enough to understand that this was not a good match and allowed me to break lease early without fee's. She was an amazing person to talk to, off the clock. On the clock was a little hard to get things accomplished, especially for an onsite manager. The old assistant manager Lacey was my favorite, unfortunately this property bled her dry and she bounced as quick as she could. Kaitlin is another good worker - although this poor girl seems so overwhelmed every time you see her. Very hard worker, very underpaid. Kevin seems Bi-Polar. One day he was cool, the next day he was the rudest person you have ever encountered. He sometimes portrays a snobby attitude as if he is better than everyone and looks at you with judgmental eyes a lot. Despite that fact, he was still one of the people to help me get stuff done and promptly, so I will not discredit him for that. Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone based off of my experiences and these are just a few, I left out some of the smaller incidents. I am glad I finally was able to move as I have not had one iota of a problem since I have been gone. Please, do your research, get to know the staff, and get to know the neighbors prior to any agreements. I hope that Lincoln recognizes that there is an issue soon and corrects it. This place has potential to be amazing, but lacks the dedicated management company to make it an amazing home.
