For the price you pay - especially given the soaring costs of living in Austin - I've found Hunters Chase to be a fair deal. I feel like the neighborhood is safe and quiet. It's off the freeway just enough that there is no freeway noise within the apartment. There are plenty of old, large trees. The apartments were built in 1984, so yes, they are old. And yes, some of the appliances are from around 1982. Some apartments are somewhat updated, but this means a higher rent, too. When I call for maintenance requests, there is a good response time. I have had issues with fire ants in the apartment, but no other pests. The apartment is spacious for the price with a decent layout. I have not had any issues with interapartment noise. I can hear things outside my door, but I can't hear anything from the neighbors on either side of me and have found the apartment to be quiet soundproof. I am going to stay here until rents in Austin trend down or I get a substantial raise and can afford a nicer apartment.
