Resident 2011 - 2013

8/6/2013

The worst! My issues started when I very naively put in a resident's survey about the decree over no parking at the office. In my stupidity I did not realize that I was living in a Section 8 housing complex and that a residents survey is just for pretend. This escalated into: - A refusal to provide a pet policy (just a decree in an e-mail from the manager that I was over the limit after I openly and honestly asked about adding another cat) - Subsequent issuance of a non-renewal of lease - After issuance of the lease non-renewal issuance of pet addendums in the middle of the lease demanding additional non-refundable pet deposits - Then office staff calling 911 on me when I would not accept that a receipt would not be issued for the return of a door opener that they would have charged me $25 for (I was asked if I was acting like an adult, common theme if you read other reviews, and this is after having to throw out a bunch of stuff from the garage because rats had infested our belongs and ZERO acknowledgement or apology from staff, just a retort that I would have to pay for the garage for the rest of my lease which she said before looking at my lease and seeing no garage addendum had been signed) I seriously wish I was joking on this one! The staff smirked at me as she called 911 and then turned the tears on for the cops. The manager actually stated in writing "...that is showed how mature the young girl was by not crying in front of me." Never once asking my a single detail about the incident and never acknowledge the staff smirking, but I guess she had to take her side since the manager should have most likely been in the office at the time of the incident, but she had been clearly avoiding us since the pet addendum stunt. - Then banishment from the office altogether so that I could not possibly resolve any issue in person with the manager because she knew I had legally cornered her on multiple points. She stated in e-mail she had met me, we never once met. - Refusal to perform a walk through and notification that we would be required to fill picture holes and curtain rod holes and shampoo the carpet! We had a neighbor come do a walk through and he said it was cleaner than his place when he moved in. Hello, like it is against the law to try to make people take care of normal use and wear items. It is even in their lease about the holes for pictures and curtain rods being acceptable. - No invoices generated for the last 3 months we were there and subsequent withholding of money from the deposit for final amounts due that had already been paid and a charge for utility reconnection. So much more and no we never ONCE paid rent late, ever! Never had a returned payment, never had a single complaint on us from neighbors, but we did get to put up with staff living in an apartment underneath us that would party every single night until 3am, but I was told I need not worry about that........so much more, I could write volumes. Least I mention the access gates.....the gates have not worked in 20 months(that is twenty, not a two with an accidental zero added on). In May the manager responded that the gates work, but they could not figure out how to issue codes effectively. In June they issued a flyer saying get your code, take a wild guess what is still not working as of the other day when I went to go see a friend...........really, not joking! Total refusal to provide the original application, inventory, lease copy, pet policy (actually told me in an e-mail that I could have a copy of the pet policy after I signed the addendums, NO, not joking!) When I asked for the next in-line's e-mail address a wholly incorrect one (not just a letter off, the whole suffix was wrong) was provided. When I called them out on it the manager denied in writing that she had given me the wrong address in the same chain e-mails as the return notification (again, no, I am not joking). Never once heard from the next in-line or the CEO of Sunridge "Management". All I can say if it is a Sunridge "Management complex and you are not accustom to Section 8 Housing treatment, have no criminal record, have a high credit score, have not broken leases, a complex "managed" by these people is not your last resort, and you actually think you have rights as a tenant turn your car around and find and different complex! If you lease at this place or any other Sunridge complex after reading this and none of the above apply and you get hosed, well, all I can say is you deserve it. Frankly if any apartment locator recommended this place I would sue them in small claims court! It is actually sad because in all honesty the complex rocks if you like wildlife around you, the apartments themselves are fairly decent and they are not so small that you feel like you are on top of yourself. We had great neighbors for the most part and for the most part the place was previously very, very pet friendly. Actually past management was not that bad. This new manager has been there since late 2012, she has replaced all people in the office with someone of color and frankly she seems openly hostile toward any white person, especially if you question her on any level. Maintenance is really iffy. ------ always rocked it, but I am pretty sure the latest manager ran him off. The others, well, for the most part you were happy if nothing else was broken or gone when they left. One positive on the move-out. They did not try to charge us for anything, but then again how far could that have gotten with a refusal for a walk through and their own documentation from no less than 5 inspections in one year that not a single thing was wrong with the apartment. Yah, there were 5 or more whole complex mandated inspections with warnings of fees if they could not get into see your place in one year. There were 1 or 2 the year before. Oh and the reason for refusal of the walk through, the manager feigned that she was scared of us...............really you supposedly have on-site security and at least 3 if not more men on maintenance staff and managers from other complexes that know us that could have come done the walk through, but she is going to feign danger after flirting with my roommate since her arrival in late 2012 until mid June of 2013. It is not like the place is not adept at calling 911. Yes, again, not joking, but I wish I was. I guarantee it will be no joke for you if you sign a lease.
