Lincoln Oaks Apartments

I lived at Lincoln Oaks for almost two years. I was never late with my rent, I kept my apartment in perfect condition, and while I was living there, the manager and other office staff seemed very nice. I gave over a months notice before I moved out, and even had the assistant manager do a walk through of my apartment to make sure that everything was in good condition, and that I did not owe anything extra. I was given a final statement which showed that I owed nothing, and this was signed by the assistant manager. About a month later, I recieved a letter in the mail from Lincoln Oaks stating that I owed 60.00 for "damages". Of course these damages did not exist. I sent a certified mail letter with a copy of my zero balance statement to Lincoln Oaks and heard nothing back, so I assumed that was the end of it. Wrong -- almost 9 MONTHS later, I started getting calls from a collection agency that Lincoln Oaks had sent my name to. It was hassle to get Lincoln Oaks to remove my name from the collection agency's list, as they seemed to always lose letters that I sent and I finally had to go in person to give them everything and stay on them about following through with things. But even after they did, this collection had already been sent to my credit report, so I had to go through even more after that to get it taken off. My apologies for going on like this -- just take this as a fair warning -- stay away from Lincoln Oaks!!
