I agree with Osdany Acosta's review on Google Reviews about bed bugs. Recent sightings of bed bugs this month (mid-April 2017) at 12820 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78753 (Villages of Sage Creek) - building 7 apartment 723. Heard of other sightings, too. Do a google search for 'bed bugs are parasites', 'bed bugs eat' and 'can bed bugs be found in walls' or 'where do bed bugs live'. Here's what the U.S. government's Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has to say about it: -Bed bugs feed on blood. Yep, your blood. -Bed bugs are parasites. -Bed bugs are known to hang out in walls, and outlets and other places before coming out to feed on your blood. -They are active mostly at night and do come out when they are hungry for your blood. -They can travel over 100 feet in a single night, so if you complained and nothing was immediately done and the issue left to fester and untreated overnight, they can spread throughout the home and other places before the office decides to do anything about it. That can't be good news for you at all. The complex owner/employees failing to act immediately is referred to as negligence in the eyes of the law. Contact an attorney if the complex owner failed to act immediately according to the lease they signed. -They can cause skin infection due to scratching, after all the biting they do and can lead to an allergic reaction. -Bite marks can take up to 14 days to develop. -A bed bug bite affects each person differently. -The best way to prevent bed bugs is regular inspection for the signs of an infestation. Sounds like the complex missed the one they were talking about (bldg 7 apt 723). Did they miss your building and unit too? -Bed bugs will hide in suitcases, boxes and shoes and other places to be near a food supply (you and your loved ones because blood is their food supply). I found that information about bed bugs right on the U.S. government's Centers for Disease Control and Prevention web site. I suggest if you signed a lease with this complex and they told you in the section of the lease about bed bugs that none were there, then you may have grounds to end your lease and move due to breach in contract on their part for falsifying information. You might even be able to get compensated for your troubles. Contact an attorney. It is good I learned of this and as a result will not be living here. I don't think the office people realized their conversations with others could be heard. haha. Maybe they should each have individual offices with closed doors instead of having two out in the open like that. If you're going to risk it, ask them for proof of the last time the unit they are trying to rent you was treated for bed bugs and how long the treatment is to last before needing another treatment before you consider filling out an application. Also request proof the last time the entire building the unit you are interested in is located was treated for bed bugs and how long before it needs to be treated again. Or you know, you can just do like me and save yourself the headache by going elsewhere. Another thing I found when visiting this property was that their gates seem to never be closed. I've gone there at night for many days to see what the night life was like (noisy, parking issues, etc) and every single time their gates (ALL OF THEM) were opened! What's the point of having a gated community if the gates don't work? If you've seen the complaints about parking, they are not lying. You would have to rent one of their garages to guarantee parking (not covered parking but an actual DETACHED GARAGE if you want to make sure you get a spot when you come home from a long day at work). They say it costs $75 a month to rent one. Crazy but if you don't want to deal with the massive parking problem, then that's going to be the solution. My recommendation from what I've heard and seen when going to this complex is to strongly consider another property that first of all does not have bed bugs, has no parking problem, and has gates that actually work. The deeper you get into this property that sits on over 30 acres the trashier it gets. I know this because I've actually visited the property. Don't believe me? Go there yourself and see. But with bed bugs on this property, that should be more than enough reason to make you go elsewhere unless you just want them to feed on you and your loved ones. If so, then go ahead and live at this complex. Bed bugs sightings is the main reason for this negative review. Feel bad for those trapped in a lease, BUT you might just be able to get out of it if they falsified information about bed bugs on the lease. Good luck.
