If you are currently living in the Montecito apartment complex, make sure that you take pictures of your apartment before you leave. Also, YOU MUST be there for the final walk through. That was a very costly mistake that we made.<br><br>We lived in the complex for two years and were charged a $750 fine when we moved out of our 1B, 1Bath apartment (our rent was $200 less than our final fine). We were charged $330 to replace carpet that was not new when we moved in and had never been replaced the entire two years we were there. If an apartment complex does not want to change resident's carpet over a three plus year period of time, they should not allow pets at their complex. I have no idea what our initial $300 pet deposit went to.<br><br>In addition, there were multiple charges that were excessive, including a $90 fine to clean a closet-sized kitchen that had already been well cleaned and a $170 fine to paint over wall that had "been painted black". We never painted any of our walls when we were there. I have no idea what they were talking about.<br><br>When we went in to discuss the fine, we were ignored by the staff and told that nothing could be discussed unless we put it in writing. We, therefore, sent a letter to them discussing our case, but instead of the office contacting us like they said they would, they sent our file to an AIMCO (?) office called "Talbot's and Moore" (not a collection agency) who "didn't know anything about the situation and was just calling to collect the fine." This man was extremely rude. When I called Montecito about this, they told me that the file had been sent away, and there was nothing they could do. They also gave me a number to call 1-800-999-8600 to help me with my situation, and it turned out to be a recording. <br><br>Overall, our experience at the Montecito has been tainted by our final move out. I would have thought that loyal, unproblematic residents of two years would have been treated better by the staff. Realize, however, that the staff changes about every 3 months, so I guess you never know what to expect.<br><br>I DO NOT reccomend this complex.<br><br>*There have been multiple car break-ins while we were there, my husband's CD player was stolen from his car in the middle of the day.<br><br>
