If i could give the staff negative stars, i would give them 5 negative stars. Over my years at living at Monterey, I have seen bed bug infestation in other tenants, Monterey themselves down playing Mold in one of our rooms (which resulted in my roommate and his pregnant gf moving out). By the way, that same roommate is a project manager at a construction company, and knows to the tee health and regulation codes. They simply chipped it off and painted over. Which I'm assuming they do for other units. If that's not enough to deter you the staff is extremely incompetent, and when they don't know how to answer a question, they can only refer to the contract that you signed. They have no idea that sometimes certain situations require REAL LEADERSHIP and THINKING abilities, rather than just referring to text to cover your bases. This is why people rate the complex so low. The people that manage it are terrible. But what really broke the straw for my roommate and I , was the office charging my roommate and I late fees for our pro-rated February rent. We move out on the 19th, and when we checked the portal to pay on the 31st, their systems are down and are displaying incorrect rent in the portals for MOST tenants. All good and fine. This is resolved so on Sunday we look and the rent has jumped from 1500 ish (our legacy rent) to the new rent they are charging which was like 1965 (unbelievable for the poor service you receive from the management, but im not living there so what do I care). So we call the front office and we are told to pay 1161. Then the next day, 1265. So when my roommate and I finally go to pay Monday, they then tell us again, "oh no sorry, its 1361.10. Obviously something is very wrong, so my roommate and I have to take off work to pay our damn rent because its already the 5th. What happens?? we go back and they give us a DIFFERENT DOLLAR AMOUNT to pay PLUS a late fee, because we agreed by contract to pay late fees for rent paid past the 3rd of the month. no accountability for staffs incompetence, and Amanda being extremely rude and off putting towards my roommate and I when we had tried for multiple days to get the correct dollar amount from the staff to pay. I would NEVER EVER recommend living here to anyone I truly cared about. I've lived in some pretty ------ places especially during college to get by, but this is by far the worst experience I have ever had. I would give it negative stars if I could.
