Resident 2010

4/26/2010

I'll admit, I didn't do the best research and didn't have a whole lot of time or resources. But bad signs were everywhere. Wanted to live in a two bedroom with close friend/co-worker. We got in for just a 6 month lease through an apt finder (Thank god there is only 1 month left here.) Office staff did not physically come to show us apartment, they just sent us to a random apartment as an example and said it would NOT look like the apartment we would move in to. We could not see the apartment we would move into yet because it still needed its tenants to move out and to be cleaned. When it was time to move in, our apartment key did not work and management had to be told a few times before they physically came to the apartment and it turns out the key had to be used a special way to work. However, maintenance and visits from other office members are difficult because they always forget special way to use key and assume they don't have a key. After paying move in fee and first month's rent I was given an eviction notice for not paying rent only 1 week after moving in. Apartment has damages and lots of mold that they just painted over, but stains still appeared out through the paint. Apartment was cleaned the day we moved into the apartment so we had to move our belongings and furniture into a very wet and smelly of chemicals apartment. Maintenance requests take a long time to fill, but one maintenance guy is very nice. Office workers can be nice, but generally office hours are during normal business hours so good luck talking to anyone if you work a normal full-time job. They are also often late or unavailable during their office hours. The building was nice with families in other apartments, but within these 6 months, neighbors shared light complaints and everyone seemed to move out one after the other and now replaced with younger people who are always partying loud and there is a lot of drug activity and hints of gang activities and people. My roommate and I are two young ladies ourselves, but professional hard working goal driven girls who like a safe and relatively quiet night environment, but we are sometimes harassed by young men who try to pick us up by offering drugs while high right outside our apartment door when walking in and out at night. People argue very loudly in the complex about problems like it is Jerry Springer late at night. Gated community but it is random when the gate is even closed and when we first moved in, the gate was always open and we didn't know the gate key the first time they actually closed it. It is cheap but you really get what you pay for and I advise paying that extra $50 or $100 dollars just for better health and safety.
