Resident 2010

7/15/2010

I've lived here now for 3 years. When I first moved in, it was great. Over time I've watched alot of good people move out and alot of not so good people move in. The community has become more outta control as time passes. More college age individuals (not necessarily college students)are moving in and bringing all their friends to live with them without putting them on the lease. I've seen fairly large families being moved in (2 parents and about half a dozen kids. That's eight people in one apt., I'm not kidding.) with at least 2-3 dogs all in the same unit. I've been watching one building that seems to have a lot of late night traffic coming and going out of one particular apartment and seen this same apartment tenants sitting out on their balconey smoking an illegal substance. You can tell what it is if the wind blows your way. I've seen kids hanging out at the picnic table in front of the laundry mat after dark while their parents sit not to far away in the parking lot on lawn chairs drinking beer and talking (same family I mentioned above). That's only the things that people do that break the rules of the lease. The other issues are lack of parking (people having guests over all night or parties and their cars take up what few spaces are available for actual tenants). The picture they have posted with this rating was probably taken during the day when everyone was at work. The learning center on site has a tendency to take all the kids to the pool alot, which makes me wonder sometimes about the urine to water ratio of it. One of the reasons why I don't swim in it. The company they have hired to maintain the landscape like to start at anywhere between 630am-700am. They also like to walk through the breezeways with running equipment like weedeaters and leaf blowers, which makes it worse because it echos right outside your door. I've often been woken up by them. The office staff told me there wasn't anything they could do about it. Which was kinda funny since I always had the impression that THEY were the ones who paid these people. I havn't seen the security company coming through lately either. I used to see them all the time. Now, not so much. Even then they never stopped to ask any of the kids why they were out after dark, or talk to the people congregating in the parking lot either. But it's not all bad, once everything finally does settle down (eventually)it can be nice and quiet. The maintenance men are very prompt about fixing things and very nice. The office staff is friendly and attentive, the only thing I have a problem with is I can never get them to give me a reciept when I pay my rent. That I don't understand. Never known a legitimate business that had a problem providing you with a reciept if you asked for one. It's also difficult sometimes to catch them in the office because the hours posted are not necessarily the ones they keep. Many times I've gone to the office at 3pm on a weekday to find they'd already left for the day. Hard to know when to find them, but you can always call the office number and leave a message for them. They're usually pretty good about responding back. All in all, I'm fairly happy here having resolved myself to accept the little bumps of my community that aren't going to change anytime soon. But I will say this, if a better opportunity presented itself.....I'd take it in a New York minute.
