Resident 2013 - 2015

9/17/2015

The other negative reviews are spot on. Zero lights at night in the parking lot, water is turned off weekly, gate is always broken - but even worse, it gets STUCK in the CLOSED position or opens just enough to fit a smart car in! If you drive anything bigger too bad. If you have a balcony, don't expect to ever be able to use it. They are either power washing the building, replacing gutters, staining the wood, painting the outside, doing maintenance on the roof, and then just to mess with you after they tell you to move everything off your balcony they will say "JUST KIDDING! We have reschedule the balcony thing. " Then they will send out nasty letters threatening to charge you $200 if you don't clear your balcony. If they so much as have to move a small plant, BAM $200 charge! Just give up and don't put ANYTHING on your balcony EVER. It is off limits almost as much as the pool, which by the way is pretty much closed ALL summer, but they have no problem opening it during the fall... Parking. Nonexistent. People even drive across the complex to park in the mailbox area. You will at times have to park on the street or at Randall's next door, which is closer than driving the few miles across the huge complex in circles trying to find parking, and then never finding your car again. If you move here, sell your car and buy a scooter and park it in your living room. And then there is always construction and some random reason to block off any of the already scarce parking. In sum, don't expect to use the pool, your balcony, or park within a mile of your building, or have running water for two full weeks without interruption. There are a few positives. Unlike the other negative reviews, the staff is actually very nice and maintenance is great. The walls are thick since they are condo standards. You won't hear your neighbor bowling upstairs nearly as much as any other place. Unfortunately, with all the negatives this might still be one of the best places in Austin. The housing market heavily favors landlords and has been for years. This has ruined and trashed the market so much, standards have tanked. Stories of balconies and stairwells collapsing and buildings just falling apart are still fresh in my memory from the last 5 years. I've volunteered in neighborhoods with free housing and struggling families, desolate people, even the homeless have higher living standards. I've lived in Austin since 2001 in just about every conceivable neighborhood and it has gotten really, really bad. Please stop coming to Austin, it's making life worse for everyone. With so many people moving to Austin don't expect to have any kind of living standards, just take what you can! Seriously, if you want a decent place it will have to be far away from central Austin, like 20+ miles away. This is the reality of the growing pains of Austin. Settle for less. It's sad to see the once Weird hippie city of Leslie and Artists get pushed out of the city because they cannot afford to live here. This has become Dallas, RIP Austin.
