Just wait until the party animals return for classes at UT. The Triangle is a good place to live in late December and early January when they are away for Christmas break, but when classes start back during the third week of January, you'll find that the professional environment of the apartment complex changes completely. You'll likely be awaken at all hours of the night with people yelling in the parking lot, partying on their balconies, smoking in the stairwells, slamming doors, and running up and down the hallways. Plus, you'll find empty beer cans and cigarette butts littering the stairs and halls (especially Sunday and Monday morning), vomit in the parking lot or in the stairs, and other spilled beverages throughout the building. This been my experience in the last six months here. We've had to evacuate the building for fires twice in six months (once in the middle of the night). I'm out as soon as the one-year lease expires. The central location is very good and some of the amenities are nice, but I put a greater value on respecting others.
When you see all the BMWs, Lexus, and Mercedes vehicles in the parking lot, you get the impression that this will be a place where young professionals and mature students live. That might be true for some of us, but there seems to be a greater proportion who have lived a priviledged life so far, never having to pick up after themselves or be concerned about those around them (spoiled?). I don't mean to label every resident this way, it's just that there are enough of that kind to ruin it for the rest of us.
